Manellae Choir Visit
On Tuesday morning, St Michael's School Choir walked up the hill to Manellae Lodge to entertain the residents with a performance from our volunteer choir members. Between COVID restrictions and ill health, it has been some time since we have visited our friends at the Lodge, and they welcomed us back with open arms.
The choir ran through their repertoire for the year so far, starting with an ANZAC song - 'Spirit of the ANZACs' by Lee Kernaghan, followed by two emotional songs for our Mums and Dads 'When God Made you my Mother' and 'I See a Hero'. We finished off with a rousing rendition of 'When I'm 64' for our grandparents. The residents absolutely loved the beautiful singing from our choir and were happy to tell them so after the performance, when the students went to meet and greet them. It was lovely to catch up with some old friends and make some new and we promised to return next term with some Christmas Carols that the residents could sing along with.
Congratulations to the students in the choir for their really beautiful singing and the efforts they made in talking to the residents and making new connections. It was a pleasure to witness our wonderful students serving in the community in such a positive way. We look forward to returning next term to Manellae Lodge.
Yours in singing,
Miss McDonald and Mrs Shepherd
