Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we welcomed our new school counsellor, Meghann Stanton. Meghann will be onsite at St Michael's every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We have warmly welcomed Meghann as she will fill the huge void left with the resignation of our previous counsellor Samantha Hand earlier in the year. Meghann is employed by Centacare in Tamworth and a large part of her work will be undertaken onsite at St Michael's. Welcome Meghann.

Wednesday August 30, several staff members travelled to Armidale to undertake professional learning in the English and Mathematics Syllabus documents for Years 3-6 that are currently being trialled in schools across NSW ready for implementation in 2024. Our staff members joined with staff from schools across the Diocese for this important learning.

Friday September 1, our school community enjoyed a very special event as we celebrated the important males in our students' lives, with our annual Fathers' Day Breakfast. It was wonderful to see so many dads, stepdads, grandpa's, pops and other significant males present and enjoying each other's company. After a very hearty breakfast, the children presented class items to mark this very special day on the calendar. We hope you all had a wonderful Fathers' Day.

Congratulations to former student Olivia Coombes who has recently been elected School Captain at Calrossy in Tamworth for Term 4 of 2023 and Terms 1-3 2024. Olivia is big sister to Alice in Year 3 and Max in Kindergarten here at St Michael's. We are very proud of you Olivia and look forward to hearing about your wonderful year ahead.

Our projected enrolments for 2024 have been submitted to the Catholic Schools Office. Our enrolments are seeing an upward trend which is very pleasing. We have a number of capital works projects and improvements in the pipeline to further enhance our facilities and grounds at St Michael's. These will be outlined at the P&F Meeting to be held at the Bowling Club on Tuesday evening, September 12 commencing at 5.30 p.m. We hope to see you there.

Enjoy a fabulous weekend,

Bronwyn
