Year 4 Camp - CYC Phillip Island
Our Year 4 students recently attended a three-day camp at the CYC Camp at Phillip Island. I would first like to acknowledge our amazing staff, as this experience would not have been possible without their dedication, support, and enthusiasm. A huge shout out to our Year 3/4 teachers, Mrs Slann, Miss A, Divya, Jon and our volunteer Will.
The CYC Camp at Phillip Island was more than just a camp; it was an opportunity for our Year 4 students to explore, learn, and bond in an outdoor setting. With the stunning backdrop of Phillip Island's natural beauty, the camp provided the perfect platform for students to step out of their comfort zones, engage in collaborative activities, and create lasting memories.
With the support of our devoted staff, the students immersed themselves in a diverse range of educational and recreational activities. From coastal explorations and wildlife encounters and team-building challenges, each moment was a chance for growth and discovery. We are immensely proud of our Year 4 students for embracing this opportunity, and again extend our deepest appreciation to the attending staff for helping create memories that will be forever cherished.
2023 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey
Our school is conducting a survey for parents/caregivers/guardians to gain feedback on where the school is performing well and areas for future improvement.
This is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families' perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, although we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
This year we are inviting all families to participate in the survey and currently we have received a much lower than anticipated response rate.
We would love to see us get over 100!
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

Kiss and Go Zone: A Smooth Start to the Day
We are committed to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our school drop-off and pick-up procedures. With this in mind, please follow the "Kiss and Go" zone 2-minute time limits on both Coolac and Silver St. We are in conversations with the City of Kingston to update our 'Kiss and Go' signage. These zones are designed to facilitate quick drop-offs in the morning and efficient pick-ups in the afternoon. Your cooperation in following the guidelines in these zones will help us maintain a smooth flow of traffic and keep our students safe.
Stay Connected with Formal Communication via Sentral App
To enhance communication between the school and our community, we are excited to be utilising the Sentral App for all important notifications and updates. This process will serve as a reliable channel for receiving important announcements, event reminders, and other school-related information. Please ensure that you have the APP installed on your devices and have enabled notifications to stay informed.
Student Punctuality: A Key to Success
We have noticed a rise in students arriving at school far too early and are in the school yard unsupervised. Yard supervision, and the school's duty of care commences every morning at 8.45am. Students should not be arriving prior to this unless supervised by a parent or guardian. Alternatively, Team Kids does have capacity for before school bookings.
Conversely, we have also noticed a rise in late arrivals. I would like to emphasise the importance of student punctuality. Arriving on time to school sets a positive tone for the day and helps our students make the most of their learning opportunities. We kindly request parents and guardians to support us in instilling this value in our students by ensuring they arrive promptly each morning.
Acknowledging "Say No to Bullying"
'Say No to Bullying and Violence Day' is an important initiative that aims to raise awareness and promote a safe and respectful environment within schools. Today our students and teachers observed this day by wearing a splash of blue and/or orange.
CEPS are committed to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all of our students, staff, visitors and volunteers.
Professional Practice Day - Monday 28 August
On Monday 28 August, our staff will be participating in a Professional Practice Day, which will be a Pupil-Free Day. This day is a valuable opportunity for our dedicated teachers to engage in professional development activities, collaborate with colleagues, and enhance their teaching practice, all of which ultimately contribute to a better learning experience for our students.
What is Professional Practice Day?
Professional Practice Day is an essential component of our commitment to continuous improvement in education. It allows our teachers and staff to take a step back from their daily responsibilities and focus on refining their skills and knowledge. The Department of Education recognises the importance of providing educators with the time and resources they need to stay updated with the latest educational advancements, teaching methodologies, and classroom technologies.
Bunnings BBQ
This Saturday 19 August, our Parent's Committee, with the support of parent volunteers, will be hosting a BBQ fundraiser at Bunnings Mentone. Please promote this with your friends and families and pop down for a sausage and a drink. While at Bunnings, you might like to purchase a small plant to donate towards the rejuvenation of the school's veggie garden. These can be dropped off at the office next week.
