School Concert
Lights Up - 31st August, 2023
What a spectacular and uplifting show our concert was. As evident on the 500 or so smiling faces united in song during our finale, we were ‘All in this Together’ with the show being a marvellous showcase for what we can do together as a community.
Congratulations to our students on a brilliant performance, it was a wonderful reward for the effort and dedication you have shown to learning your lines and your dance moves over the last term or so. I hope you had a lot of fun throughout the entire making of the concert, it certainly looked like you were onstage. You should all be very proud of your efforts. A special mention must go to all of the senior students who shone in their live acting roles.
Thank you to our audience for supporting our students and the school community, we hope you enjoyed the show. The students get a real buzz out of performing in front of such a large audience that included their closest family members and friends.
Thanks also to ALL Teachers, Education Support and Admin staff who worked tirelessly to coordinate, support and encourage the students to perform at the high standard that we witnessed. The show would not be possible without their enthusiasm and commitment. Thanks also to the staff who put themselves out there to perform in the staff act which is always a lot of fun.
A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who helped and supported through costuming, transport, engagement and motivation. It shows a real commitment to give up your time to support the students to put on such a wonderful event, however it’s all worth it when you see the excitement, confidence and teamwork displayed on film and stage.
There are so many people who contribute significantly to a production this size, however some specific mentions must go to:
Choreographers: Thank you for the amazing work and dedication of choreographers Cara Hamilton, Karen Young, Olivia South, Annabel Ellis and Cara Searle, as well as the teachers who made adjustments and supported the students to learn the dances along the way.
Sets and props: A huge thank you to Art Teachers Olivia Winfield and Bec Long, with support from Roz Wolstencroft, Lara Bunn and Lucia Garreton for sensational work with props, sets and some of the costume items created by the students.
Program & T-Shirts: Thank you to Cass Morgan who was the driving force behind the development of the program and t-shirts, and congratulations to Leah Marshall in Year 6 who designed the front cover of the program, and Olivia Flanagan in Year 2 for the back cover.
Staff Act: Brilliant work was completed by Cass Morgan, Brittany Pholi, Annabel Ellis, Rowan Doyle and much fun was had by all of the participating staff who put themselves out there to contribute to this year’s staff act.
Logistics: It’s a huge undertaking to plan for a concert with 500 students and 400 plus staff all participating – thank you to the logistics team led by Emily Harvey to ensure full participation and a safe and smooth running event!
Filming: Silver Soules production company are producing a film of the entire event.
Finally, it’s been four years since our last concert, and two teachers who are new to our school and relatively new to the profession, have taken up the reigns and through their incredible passion, creativity and dedication, have been the driving force behind the show.
I would like to give a very special round of thanks, appreciation and applause for Brittany Pholi and Cass Morgan.
As directors of the show, Brittany and Cass had a hand in absolutely everything to do with the concert this year. They brought energy and enthusiasm and ensured that everyone was excited and engaged. Whether it was scripting, rehearsing and overseeing the lead acts, directing, stage managing, production meetings, staff meetings, theatre logistics, development of props and costumes - you name it they were involved or leading. The success of the show, the engagement and growth of the students through their participation and involvement in the show is just reward for the literally countless hours that Cass and Brittany have dedicated to this event.
The video of the BRPS concert is always much loved and provides many happy memories for many years to come.
This year, the concert video will be available as a digital copy on USB drive. The USB arrives with easy to use menus. Includes footage & montage of full dress rehearsal, behind the scenes, playground activities & so much more. The evening show was filmed with 4 HD Cameras, spread all around the venue so all angles are covered. The footage is edited down from 3 camera angles, making sure that each child is seen as many times as possible through wide shots, 3/4 shots & close-ups.
