An Update...

We are steadily approaching towards Newlands Primary School's 2024 School Concert. Can you believe that we only have one and a half weeks until opening night? Students and teachers have been busily practising their dances, preparing and sorting their costumes and props for the big night. While the main and supporting cast members has been feverishly practising their lines and attending additional rehearsals. All to entertain you... the wonderful community of Newlands Primary School.  We kindly ask for your support by ensuring that your child attends both nights to ensure the overall success of the performances. Remember, this event is a team effort with some classes dancing with partners, therefore your child's attendance is needed as they are playing an integral part in their classes act.

Seating: Allocated

Approximate running time:2 hours with an interval

Content warnings:strobe, smoke and haze, dynamic soundtrack or loud noises

Pricing:$26.50 per ticket

Age limit: 12 years and over. This means that tickets are for sale only to people who are 12 years and over. This was a tough decision that the school had to make for a number of reasons. We appreciate that this may be difficult for some families with younger children who will not be able to attend on the night and apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. 

Dress Rehearsals

On Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th of September we will be holding Concert Dress Rehearsals. Each class will have one rehearsal session. Please refer to the table below to see when your child will be attending.

On their designated dress rehearsal day, your child should come to school as usual. At the scheduled time, they will go with their teacher to the Darebin Arts Centre to practice their musical item. After the rehearsal, they will return to school. Pick-up time will be at 3:30pm as usual.

Please make sure you have completed permission/payment form that has been sent via Sentral. 

Arrival on Concert nights

For the concert nights, students in Act 1 are scheduled to arrive at the Darebin Arts Centre by 6:00pm, while those in Act 2 should arrive by 6:20pm. Please refer to the timetable below to check which Act your children are in. Main and secondary characters are also expected to arrive at 6:00pm.

What to bring on the night

Students are asked to bring a small bag with a bottle of water and a snack on the night. They will be able to watch a live stream of the concert and teachers will have a variety of activities to entertain students between their items. No electronic devices are to be brought to the venue. 

Costumes

Please keep an eye out on Sentral from your child's classroom teacher with reminders about what costumes are needed and what students will wear on the night. This should explain what the student should come to the venue dressed in. If you have any questions about costumes, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
