Hi all

The AFL State Championships were held last Wednesday.  Our school played three Pool A games and needed to finish on top of the pool to play in the grand final.   We beat St Francis of the Field (Strathfieldsaye) and St Columbus (Ballarat) comfortably then had to win or draw our game against Glen Katherine PS (Eltham).  It was dour, low scoring game and we struggled to get the space and ball movement that had been our strength.  The lead switched many times and, when the siren sounded, we went down by one lousy point.  

There are about 2,550 primary schools in Victoria and we finished in the top 4.  Or 1 point off being in the top 2.  It was very impressive year from a very talented young group of boys.  This season, they have been just as impressive off the field as they have been on the field.  I hope they pass on their culture of what it takes to be a teammate who supports and lifts their team to our current Year 5s for next year.  

Thank you to all of the parents that came down and supported the team on the day.  Thank you for scoring, goal umpiring, barracking from the sidelines and consoling the kids on the way home.  Thank you Ryan for your help throughout the year.  Than k you Carmel for your support of our sport's program.
