Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a fabulous two weeks at TPS with many amazing learning opportunities and experiences for our students across the school: Grade 6 and 2 students attending camp, Gr 4 Forces and Energy Incursion, the Year 3 and 4  whole day Soccer Gala day competing against other schools, student support group meetings, our successful participation in the Southern Metro Region Hockey competition – Go TPS!, Gr 5 Miniboss incursion, book week activities, Junior school council involved in meetings about plans for our new play equipment to the the return of cake lotto at assembly.

Yesterday we celebrated Book Week with a vibrant display of imagination, with students donning creative costumes inspired by their favourite book characters during our annual Book Week parade. From classic tales to modern favourites, seeing the variety and effort put into each outfit was a joy. The parade was not just about dressing up but also about community spirit, with students encouraging and supporting each other throughout the event!

The theme "Reading is Magic" truly came to life with our students showcasing their creativity, enthusiasm, and love for reading.

A special congratulations to our winners of the "Best Dressed" awards! The decision was tough, with so many amazing costumes to choose from, but these students truly stood out for their originality and attention to detail.

It was lovely to see the entire school community engaged in the activities, from teachers and parents to the students themselves. The excitement around reading was palpable, and we hope this enthusiasm continues as we nurture a lifelong love for books.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this Book Week so memorable. Let's keep the magic of reading alive all year round!

I look forward to welcoming you all to our Literacy open morning next Monday at 9 am in the hall, to share with you our approach to reading, and then parents will be able to view, in classrooms, our school’s reading program. Thank-you for sharing this journey with us. We know that parent involvement in schools is found to be positively associated with a child’s academic performance and it is also great for their wellbeing!

Grade 6 Ski Camp at Mt. Buller

Our recent ski camp at Mt. Buller was filled with excitement and joy as our Grade 6 students hit the slopes for some fantastic ski lessons. The conditions were perfect, allowing everyone to make the most of their time on the mountain.

Throughout the camp, our students embodied the school values of kindness, honesty, friendship, responsibility, and respect. It was wonderful to see everyone supporting each other, learning new skills, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

A huge thank you to the amazing staff who attended and made this experience unforgettable for all. Your dedication and support ensured that our students had a safe, fun, and educational adventure. We appreciate everything you did to make this camp a success!

Grade 2 Sleepover and Mini Olympics

Our Grade 2 sleepover was a night to remember! Students enjoyed an overnight stay at school, complete with a movie, dinner, and breakfast. The atmosphere was filled with resilience, friendship, and kindness, as everyone came together for a fun and memorable experience.

We were fortunate to have wonderful teachers who supported the students throughout the night. Their dedication ensured that everyone was well-fed, well-cared for, and ready for the next day's activities. We thank the parents who assisted with dinner and breakfast and the ones who helped set up beds, and the packing up of spaces the next day.

The fun continued the following day with an in-school mini-Olympics, where our students showed off their energy and enthusiasm. It was a fantastic way to wrap up an unforgettable experience!

Hockey Team Triumphs at Regionals!

Congratulations to our hockey team for their outstanding victory at the regional level! Their hard work, spirit, and high level of sportsmanship have earned them a well-deserved spot in the upcoming state-level competition.

We wish our students all the very best as they take the next step and compete at the state level. A special thank you to Ms. Martelli for her exceptional coaching and leadership. Her expertise and guidance have been instrumental in the team's success and in bringing this great group of students together.

Good luck at the state competition—we’re cheering for you all the way!

Where is that school hat? Sunsmart Reminder

For those students who have lost their school hat or for those students new to the school, now is the time to prepare to wear a school hat to school every day. From Thursday 1st September our school hat should be always worn when students are outside, when at school.

We want our parents/caregivers/guardians to tell us what they think!

Our school is surveying to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. Last year we used the survey results to plan for next steps for the following year's Annual Implementation Plan. The survey closing date is the Wednesday 21st August.

Kind regards,

Sharon Wildermuth
