Learning Community 3

5/6 Glenys Howard and Levi Hudson

Congratulations to everyone for their efforts in the swimming program! We can really see skills developing, learning progressing and lots of fun! Our students have demonstrated that they are resilient, patient, persistant, hard working and respectful during their lessons, and we are super proud of their efforts.

During the two weeks of swimming, we have continued with Literature Circles, focusing on character development and the two sides of an opposing character trait, they can often display within a text. We have also learnt about homophones and spoonerisms (ask your child!)

We are looking at diary writing and so far have crafted some amazing pieces from the voice of some cartoon characters. We will develop this knowledge further over the coming weeks.

The photos above are from our maths work and are related to events from the Olympics. Students had to select an event, read and interpret the instruction card, carry out the task and measure and record the results. We had a lot of fun with the discus (paper plate throw), high jump (leap up and touch the whiteboard), weight lifting (hold a two litre bottle of water over your head for as long as you can), gymnastics (stand on one leg for as long as you can) and canoeing (make a canoe out of alfoil and see how many marbles it will hold), just to name a few!
