Learning Community 2

3/4 Maxine Howard and Nicole Stark

An abundance of resilience has been consistently shown among the 3/4s during this challenging and tiring fortnight of swimming! We are so proud of the efforts students have continued to make during their lessons.

Our students are invested in our book study of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as we unpacked character traits; created winter poems inspired by passages in the book; and tried our hand at newspaper article writing and writing news report scripts for a 'live' report to our classmates.

Diary writing has seen our students put themselves in the shoes of others, such as characters from our book study, Olympians, fables and animated videos. They have written wonderfully detailed diary entries from these points of view.

Students challenged themselves in recapping fractions and decimals, and played with water this week while learning about capacity!

Integrated Studies has focused on the Olympics, and will be project-based for the remainder of the term as students choose from an Olympics-themed activities board and use their learnt skills to create a variety of written and hands-on pieces, including poems, dioramas and sports uniforms.

We hope students (and parents) have a restful weekend after an intense swimming program!

We are SUPER EXCITED to see our students dressed up for Book Week on Wednesday 21st August!
