Book Week

What a wonderful week of learning and celebrating the joy of reading at CNPS!

Our book week assembly was a wonderful demonstration of the creativity and imagination of our families - reading really is magic! I was so pleased to see so many costumes that had been created by repurposing items found around the home. Book week should always be about celebrating our favourite characters and working together to create a costume.

As part of Book Week, I had the pleasure of taking our school captains - Adele and Megan to a local Early Learning Centre. At Greenwood ELC Mulgrave, they combined an indigenous Yarning - storytelling session with a smoking ceremony and book week assembly. I was immensely proud of how well our captains represented the school. They joined in with the children doing their acknowledgment of country and knew the actions for the two songs that the children sang. Mark Lumley, our KESO (Koori Education Support Officer), was in attendance and was impressed by the way our captains were able to join in.

Over the last few weeks, our students have been undertaking the ICAS optional assessments. I have been impressed with the dedication and concentration displayed by our students - despite a few technology challenges!

Next week, students will complete the final assessment for the year - Mathematics.

Sporting Schools Grant

Over the next two weeks, our senior students will have the opportunity to receive Gymnastics Coaching from - AspiGymnastics.  We were fortunate enough to secure a Sporting Schools Grant which covers the cost of professional coaching and lessons. I stopped in on our Year 3/4s yesterday and they were having a blast - learning to be safe while attempting some challenging skills.

We have applied for a further grant in Term 4 - with the hope of being able to provide for the rest of the school.
