ENPS School News

Introducing David Foley and Tandy Johnson

Principal News - Term 3 Week 5

We are sure that those who had an opportunity to attend last night will agree that the highlight of this week has been our school production of Peter Pan. It was also terrific to be able to have this event in our 100th Birthday year adding another special occasion to our celebrations.  Preparations commenced early in the year and by term two, the cast was selected, stage props designed and rehearsals in full swing!  Chrissy Jedrys, one of our two Performing Arts teachers was the key coordinator to bring the performance together with the assistance of other staff and parents.

We congratulate and thank the cast members and ensemble teams who auditioned and spent many months learning their lines and roles, lyrics and dances. Each year 5 and 6 class learned their class song and choreography. The classes have been committed, inspired and creative. A group of students also formed part of the backstage crew and they worked hard to ensure the show looked as seamless as it did. Without all of the teams giving 100% like they did, the show would definitely have not gone on!

There were many highlights but the joy amongst the students every time they took to the stage was fabulous. Congratulations to the entire crew on a wonderful show!

If you were hopeful to get tickets but missed out due to the show being sold out, there is good news. We will be releasing the recording of the show. More details will follow in the near future!

Peter Pan Year 5/6 Production

A Note from the Director…

A few people to thank for helping me put together this wonderful production.

To Alexandra Beaumont, the Junior Performing Arts teacher for helping rehearse with all three ensembles over many months. To Josh Darling who stepping in last minute on the night to be on sound and background for the show, I’m so lucky to be surrounded by staff who are willing to step up when asked. Thank you so much Josh.

To Rachel Hanslow-Sells who helped make a number of the stage props and sets. She has gone above and beyond to assist me and taken on numerous tasks voluntarily, including stage manager this evening. Lucy Van Haandel who is no longer a staff member, still helped me across many months, being a soundboard with ideas and utilized her creative skills to help in designing props and sets. To Sarah Van Nieukerk for working behind the scenes being in the backstage crew tonight, along with Claire Amsellem and Cara Grant who stepped in last minute to assist on the night also.

To the Gr 5/6 teachers for their support through-out this year and their flexibility within their classroom programs to cater for rehearsals of the students, and for being here this evening. Special mention to Nikki Jones for helping backstage with case and ensemble and Hayley Reynolds for being stage runner for me.

To our leadership and principal team for their support during this production year. To Madison Quinsee our business manager, for helping me in so many ways, thank you so much. To the rest of the Eltham North Primary teaching and administrative staff for their assistance to the lead up to this evening. Ticketing and program help from Donna Rowe and Lina Filardo. Special mention to my specialist team and Andrea Pierce for designing and creating this wonderful production program. To Darren Bowen our school maintenance man, for all his assistance through-out the year and travelling across town to collect stage props and sets.

To all the Grade 5/6 students who have worked tirelessly in their Performing Arts classes to learn their class song and dance, you have all been amazing and I hope you’ve had so much fun tonight. To all the families of every Grade 5/6 student - thank you for supporting Eltham North Primary School’s Performing Arts program. I hope seeing your child on stage was a special moment.

Thank you and congratulations to each and every cast and ensemble member who auditioned and then spent many months learning their lines, lyrics and dances. For many of them, this was their first time on stage, acting and singing. Their hard work and dedication has been amazing and I appreciate their passion and enthusiasm to help bring this show alive. The commitment and sacrifices they’ve had to make has not gone unnoticed. The main cast has been beyond incredible, with not just their talent but their collaboration efforts, work ethic and energy. The student backstage crew who worked tirelessly to make the show run seamlessly were outstanding.  I’m so grateful to have students that wanted to be a part of this production.

Lastly, to my own beautiful little family. My husband and two daughters have been along for the ride every step of the way and have been my biggest supporters, helpers and cheerleaders. I dedicate this performance to them and my beautiful late father.

It’s been a huge year putting on this show. The hard work, dedication, and passion I hope was seen on stage and the amount of work off stage and behind the scenes that occurred, has been nothing short of extraordinary. Nothing has made me happier than seeing these children shine, learn, grow and discover a passion for Performing Arts and I hope they’ve created memories to last a lifetime. I most certainly have.

Many thanks, Mrs Chrissy JedrysSenior Performing Arts Teacher

Unwell children attending school

Term 3 has seen an extraordinary number of students and teaching staff away ill and this situation is not being helped as children are being sent back to school before they are well enough. For the well-being of all students and staff please do not send your child back to school until you are sure they are healthy enough to return. Thank you for your cooperation.
