 STAGE TWO NEWS

Hello MGPS families and community!

It is hard to believe we are in Term 3 already!  With so much on over the last four weeks, Stage 2 (and their families!) have been super resilient and flexible about changes to our schedule - often at the last minute!  We are so proud of our Stage 2 learners who are becoming so mature.  With that being said, here is a recap of Stage 2’s first 4 weeks of Term 3!

Maths - In Mathematics, Stage 2 have been learning about 2D shapes, tessellation and symmetry.  Check out our awesome tessellations!  We also loved having our families in the classrooms during Education Week to see our wonderful Maths games!

English - In English we have been loving studying the classic Emily Rodda novel, Rowan of Rin.  We have been learning about narrative and characters, and how to paint a vivid mental image of a scene.  Stage 2 have been on the edge of their seats, hearing what will come next in Rowan’s journey.  We have been making predictions about the story, and looking at parts of the story from different characters’ point of view.

Music - In Music, Miss Landow has been taking Stage 2 on a journey through the history of Rock n Roll.  Stage 2 have not enjoyed all the music(!) but are learning lots about how and why rock n roll became popular.  We have also been practicing hard for our Assembly performance this Friday.

Science - In Science, Mrs Williams has been teaching Stage 2 about the solar system, Earth, the Sun and the Moon.  Lookout NASA, here come the Wombats and Bilbies!  Stage 2 also had a fabulous time when the UNE Discovery crew came to Martin’s Gully to help us celebrate Science Week!

Geography - In Geography with Miss Randall, Stage 2 have been learning all about the continent of Australia and its features. Did you know that there are more sheep in Australia than people!?

Gymnastics - We have been having a great time at our Gymnastics lessons, learning how to roll and jump and balance and swing.  We always follow Mr O’s rules - no flippies, and never let your teacher on the beam!

Athletics - We have so many excellent sportspeople in Stage 2, and we would like to congratulate all our students who have competed at both our school Athletics carnival, and the PSSA Athletics carnival.
