Years 2 & 3

Reading: This week we have continued to read books about the Antarctic. We read, Antarctic Animals, a information book. The students were then asked to write a persuasive piece on whether fishing should be allowed in Antarctica.

The class thought that Sienna Huf's persuasive writing was very good.

" They should not fish in Antarctica. No, because there are other places to fish, not just Antarctica.  The Antarctic animals' food chain is very fragile. The more fish that are taken, the less fish there are for other Antarctic animals. For example, penguins eat fish and sharks eat the penguins. But if there are no fish, then no penguins and no sharks. All the animals need each other and if they don't have each other in the food chain, then they will die of hunger. So, no fishing in Antarctica."
