A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

2025 BNWPS Staff Conference

On Thursday 27th and Friday 28th March school leadership presented a two day conference about tier one strategies to all BNWPS staff. Tier one strategies are strategies that teachers use to best support and engage all students in their classes. Staff were led through an exploration of a variety of theories and strategies based on student presentation. We covered topics such as the science of learning, different brain types and behaviour as language on the first day. The second day was about how we can best ‘meet’ those students. We covered theories such as principles of instruction, science of learning, relationship and environment. Staff appreciated the opportunity to get together and work with people who might be outside their team. The work begun at the conference will continue throughout the year.

Teacher Professional Learning

This term, our teachers and ESS have had the opportunity to participate in a range of Professional Learning experiences. These have included the Mental Health in Primary School inductions sessions, a Rights, Responsibilities and Respectful Relationships refresher course, an e Safety and Responding to Cyber Incidents session, and coaching provided by some of the allied health staff who work closely with our school. This learning is not only linked to the goals in our AIP, but also increases staff’s understanding of the tier one strategies that will best support students’ learning and behaviour. We look forward to sharing this learning with our students in the coming term.

Term 2 Calendar

On Friday, the eldest child in each BNWPS family will bring home a hard copy of the school’s term two calendar to put on your home fridge or noticeboard. If any family would like an extra copy, there will be some available at the front office. We release the calendar on a term by term basis so that we can make sure (as much as is possible) that the dates we publish are accurate. A reminder that there is some key information on the back of the calendar about some of the special term two events that will be happening.

Early Finish and Holidays

Just a reminder that school will finish at 2.30pm on Friday 4th April. We will have an assembly at about 2.10pm under the tree beside the basketball court.

School holidays run from Monday 7th April until Monday 21st April (Easter Monday)

Students return to school on Tuesday 22nd April. Friday 25th April (ANZAC day) is also a non-school day. This makes week one of term two only three days (22nd to 24th April)

Student Led Conferences

Later this week parents/carers will receive a notification through Sentral with instructions  to book a time for our term 2 student-led conferences. Our student-led conferences will take place on Thursday 1st May, with appointment times available between 10.00am and 6.00pm. All conferences for all year levels will be on-site and in person. We look forward to sharing our learning and our goals with our families.

We would like to wish everyone a restful and restorative holiday. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
