Grade 2 News

News In Grade 2!
This Term, the Grade 2 students have done a wonderful job adjusting to their classroom routines and classroom procedures so far. They’ve been actively involved in exciting and purposeful learning opportunities, developing new skills and exploring fresh concepts along the way. We are so pleased with how well the students have settled in, making new friends and embracing new challenges.
Take Home Readers
We kindly ask that you record one book per night in your child’s diary, noting the date and book title. Book satchels should be brought to school every day to keep up with the reading routine.
We encourage families to aim for five nights of reading per week especially over the holidays, with each session lasting 10 minutes. If your child is feeling tired, try sharing the reading—taking turns line by line or page by page can make it a fun and supportive experience!
Thank you for your ongoing support with reading! 📚😊

Other News:
On Monday our grade 2 students embarked on an exciting excursion to ACMI Museum in Federation Square, Melbourne, where they explored the fascinating worlds of film, TV, video games and art.
One of the highlights of the visit was the chance for each child to star in their very own short fairytale film! In a fun and creative workshop, students took on roles of far-out fairytale characters, working together to restore order to Fairytale Land. Through dramatic play, they gained hands on experience with green screens and learned about the different crew roles involved in making a movie.
Also during the day, using their FREE lens devices, students collected items from the exhibition, creating lasting memories and engaging with the museums interactive displays. It was an unforgettable day of creativity, learning and fun!
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce that we have another excursion planned for next term. We will be visiting Sea Life Aquarium, and further details will be sent out soon.
Last Friday, Wimba Primary School celebrated Harmony Day with a vibrant and engaging series of activities that highlighted the rich diversity of our school community. Our Grade 2 students took part in a special morning Assembly, where they watched incredible cultural dances performed by fellow students.
Following the Assembly, we held an open morning, where students and their family members came together to create Harmony Day chatterboxes. This craft activity explored greetings in different languages, helping everyone learn new ways to say 'hello'.
One of the day's highlights was the Hindu Cultural Group session, where our students had a fantastic time practising yoga, playing group games and listening to stories. It was a fun-filled to celebrate and learn about Hindu traditions, while also embracing the importance of unity and cultural appreciation.
