Mr Brendan
Next Wednesday 2nd April, eight of our Year 3/4 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the very first time. They have been preparing at home and at school to learn about the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation in their lives. We've been reflecting on our choices and the difference between right and wrong. We have been using scripture stories such as The Prodigal Son, Zacchaeus and The Good Samaritan to learn about God's love for us and how the decisions we make in life can affect others. Fr Chinua came to visit all 3/4s last week and will visit again this week to continue their preparation. We pray for our friends Harley, Nicholas, Matilda, Dwayne, Xaivier, Maddie, Samuel and Everard during this special time.
All Year 3/4 students should now have brought home their Home Learning books for the first time. Please read through the information carefully and contact either Debbie or myself who will be happy to help if you have any questions. Home Learning is a real partnership between home and school, it's meant to be flexible and allow students to complete tasks in their own time. Some handy homework tips include:
Parents are welcome to join us at Ballam Park next Tuesday 1st April for the Bayside District Track Athletics. This is an event for selected students and students who wanted to attend. Thank you to the parents that have already filled out the Operoo notice giving permission for their child to attend. Please re-check Operoo for all of the details. The bus will leave promptly at 9:00 am. Any child not attending athletics will remain at school in a combined 3/4 class.
This term we read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. To help us celebrate the end of term 1 we will be watching the movie on Friday 4th April. This movie is rated G. Students are welcome to bring a chocolate treat to eat throughout the movie (no sharing of treats will be allowed for allergy and dietary purposes). I'm aware that some children have given up chocolate for Lent so they are more than welcome to bring an alternate treat that they would like to eat.Mr B will supply the popcorn!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter.
Kind regards,
Mr Brendan, Ms Kim and Ms Sue.
