Faith Matters at SFX

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,
RECONCILIATION
Next week, on Wednesday evening, several of our Year 4 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation, also known as Confession, is a vital sacrament of healing that restores a believer’s relationship with God. It allows individuals to seek forgiveness for their wrongdoings, receive grace, and renew their spiritual journey. When preparing the children we also explore the importance of forgiving others. This sacrament fosters humility, accountability, and inner peace. We look forward to sharing this special occasion with the Year 4 candidates and their families.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT FRANKSTON APPEAL
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our fundraising appeal for Community Support Frankston. We have greatly appreciated the monetary donations the children have brought to school. Our collection will end on the last day of this term. This term's Zooper Dooper proceeds are also going to this worthy cause.
MOTHERS' DAY 2025
This year we will be celebrating Mothers' Day at school with a prayer service, activity and morning tea. Hardcopy invitations will go home next term. Please RSVP using the reply form no later than Friday, 2nd May if you are able to attend.
EASTER
At St Francis Xavier School we celebrate the religious significance of Easter in a variety of ways within our classes but always do something as a whole school. Each year we facilitate a different experience to help the children further develop their understanding of the events of Holy Week and to commemorate Jesus' resurrection.
This year we invited the Year 6 student leaders to utilise their knowledge and skills to prepare the experience. They have put in an impressive amount of time and effort to create a series of activities and, supported by their Year 5/6 peers, will implement an activity rotation for the Prep, 1/2 and 3/4 students. The rotation will take place on Thursday next week.
My family always gathers for lunch on Easter Sunday and this year it will be held at the home of my nephew. He has three daughters under the age of six so there will be egg hunts and much excitement prior to eating. Last year, my then five year old great niece Emma, who had just finished her first term in Prep, offered to lead the lunchtime prayer. It was the one she had learned at school. I was a very proud aunty and touched by her gesture. May you all have a safe, happy and blessed Easter
