Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 1 - Week 9

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

We have reached the end of Week Nine, which means there is only one more week before the Term One holidays! All of our students have worked so hard this term, especially the Preps in their first term of Primary School. Every single student thoroughly deserves a well earned break.

Lent

As we approach the sacred days of Holy Week in the second week of the school holidays, let us embrace the profound significance of this time in our faith journey. On Holy Thursday, we commemorate the Last Supper, a significant moment of unity and service. As Christians, we are called to reflect on Christ's teachings of love, humility, and sacrifice. Let us engage in prayerful reflection, acts of kindness, and selflessness as we journey through Good Friday and await the joyous celebration of Easter. May these days deepen our understanding of Christ's love and inspire us to live out His message in our daily lives.

School Advisory Council Meeting

Last night, our School Advisory Council (SAC) met for the first time this year. We extend our sincere thanks to all members for generously volunteering their time and expertise to support our school in 2025. The SAC plays an important role in providing valuable insights and guidance on key areas of school planning and development, ensuring we continue to grow and thrive as a community.

Some of the key topics discussed at the meeting included the ongoing development of our school masterplan and the progress of our capital grant applications — both crucial steps in creating improved learning spaces and community facilities for our students and families. The council also explored new advertising strategies to help promote our wonderful school to the broader community and reviewed our updated Code of Conduct to ensure it reflects our commitment to a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone. We look forward to sharing more updates as these plans and initiatives progress throughout the year.

NAPLAN Testing

Over the past two weeks, our students participated in NAPLAN testing, and we are incredibly proud of their effort and resilience throughout this process. Congratulations to all our students for giving their best and approaching the assessments with a positive mindset. Families are reminded that NAPLAN results will be sent home later in the year.

Holy Week Easter Rotation Groups

We are eagerly looking forward to next Thursday, when some of our senior students will be leading Holy Week activities in the classrooms. These students have put in a great deal of effort, preparing engaging activities, spending their lunch breaks, and even working at home to create resources to share with the students. A big thank you to Miss Lisa for coordinating the teams. We look forward to sharing many photos with you all next week!
