📖✏️Literacy
Mentor Text: No One Likes a Fart by Zoe Foster Blake & The Squirrels who Squabbled by Rachel Bright
This week we will be continuing to explore the text 'No One Likes a Fart'. We will be delving into the language of the story, focusing on nouns, adjectives and verbs.
When looking at our new mentor text 'The Squirrels who Squabbled', we will be looking at information texts about squirrels to then make text to text connections between the two.
What can you do at home?
-When reading stories together notice any interesting words and discuss its meaning, ask is it an adjective, noun or verb? Ask: do you have a text to text connection between any other stories?
-Chat and notice any interesting nouns and adjectives around you
-Read your take home book and record how you went with your reading
➕Maths
Grade One and Two students will be exploring shape this week. We will be making various shapes, comparing them and describing their features.
What can you do at home?
-Find shapes in your environment, what do you notice? can you describe the shape?
-Continue to skip count by 2s, 5s and 10 orally when counting objects
🌏 CBL - Connections
This week in CBL we are going to explore how we can deal with conflict when we are working through challenges with peers and friends. We will be completing some challenges with our grade to learn skills to problem solve and deal with tricky situations.
CBL Coming up challenge
In week 10, we will be celebrating the connections we have made this Term. We will be eating our lunch together with a new Grade 1 friend. This week your child will receive a blank social story on Showbie. There is more information about this that has been sent by email. This needs to be completed at home with assistance if needed and brought back by Thursday, week 10. Your child will need to upload it back on Showbie and bring their iPad each day.
What can you do at home?
-Discuss how you would flip situations to make them more positive. How do your actions affect others? What tools do you have to flip tricky friendship situations?
Wellbeing
This week we will be using our skills to solve 'tricky situations', we will be bringing in the language from friendology to give our students the words and practical skills to solve problems.
