Making memories

From dress-up days to trips to the zoo, our students have been exploring cultural diversity and witnessing their biology lessons come to life.
Year 5 trip to Melbourne Zoo
This Term our Year 5's have been learning all about Animal Adaptations and last week they visited the Melbourne Zoo. They interacted with the Zookeepers, learning about specific physical adaptations using real life skulls as examples. The rest of the time was used to explore the zoo and learn all they could about the way different animals survive in their environments.
At the Zoo we saw many different types of animals, but my favourite was the Hippo because it swam around and went right next to the window. It was so good to see those animals after learning about them all in Inquiry. – Indie B, 5D
While we where at the Zoo, we saw lots of animals whilst also looking at their features that have adapted to their environments. I was Mr. Heath's personal tour guide for the day, and we had fun exploring. – Harrison W, 5C
Harmony Day recollections
– Written by Community Leaders Anika and Peach and Inclusion Leaders Mills and Clara
PMPS celebrated Harmony Day on the 21st of March. Harmony week was a blast! Students were given tasks and activities to do during the week to help them understand what harmony means.
On Harmony Day, students brought a gold coin donation and dressed up in cultural outfits of their heritage. The coins went to the charity Save The Children which was personally picked by the Inclusion and Community Leaders. Our school raised $360 which is is equivalent to (according to Save the Children) buying enough nutritious food sachets to fully treat a severely malnourished child (a child who doesn’t have enough calories or protein in the food they eat), feeding a family of 6 for over a month with a healthy meal kit, protect 11 kids from malaria with long lasting mosquito nets and could treat more than 24 children suffering from diarrhoea.
Thank you for all the help by the parents and guardians for helping with the outfits. With the ICT Leaders, we went around the school to interview one student from every classroom. As we went around and interviewed a student in each classroom we saw so many beautiful outfits, it was really difficult to choose. Watch our video.
