Attendance
Attendance! Every day counts, as regular attendance helps students to:
- develop a sense of belonging
- develop and maintain friendships
- be more engaged at school
- progress with their learning
- be more aware of career and life options
Supporting positive school attendance is a shared responsibility - everyone has a role.
At our school, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where every student has the opportunity to learn and thrive. One crucial factor in achieving this goal is regular school attendance. We believe that consistent attendance is essential for student success and engagement in their education.
To support our focus on improving attendance, we kindly remind all parents and caregivers to provide a valid explanation for any absence within 7 days of their child not being at school. Timely communication helps us understand the reasons for absences and allows us to support our students more effectively.
We have fortnightly meetings with the Home School Liaison Officer (HSLO) to support improved student attendance. The role of the HSLO is to support students and families by promoting engagement with the school community and addressing barriers to attendance and participation in education.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and encourage you to discuss the importance of attending school with your child. Together, we can work towards ensuring that all students are present and ready to learn each day.
Buddies
Our school's Buddy Program is a wonderful initiative that pairs Year 6 students with their Kindergarten friends to foster a sense of belonging and support within our school community.
Through this program this term, Year 6 buddies take on the role of mentors, helping their younger peers navigate their first year of school. They engage in various activities together, such as reading, playtime, Teddy Bears Picnic, and classroom projects, which not only enhances social skills but also builds confidence in our Kindergarten students.
This meaningful connection encourages a positive learning environment and strengthens friendships across year groups, creating a supportive atmosphere where all students can thrive. We look forward to this initiative continuing throughout the year.
Wellbeing Focus for Term 1
We are excited to announce that our Edgy Expects program is up and running for 2025, and students have been actively engaging in lessons focused on the various expectations within our school community. So far, our lessons have covered essential topics such as our consistent morning routines, playground behaviour, and the importance of wearing hats. As a fun incentive, students have been earning tokens for their positive participation, with reward days set to kick off in Term 2. We look forward to seeing our students continue to embody these expectations and enjoy the rewards of their hard work!
