Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia Visits Emmaus
On Thursday 3 April, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, visited our South Plympton Campus and met with leaders from the Secondary School.
The Governor’s visit was part of her ongoing initiative to engage with as many Secondary students as possible during her term. Her aim is to foster discussions around Civics, Citizenship, and Leadership, while also gaining insight into the issues that young South Australians believe are most important.
Her Excellency was warmly welcomed by our College Captains, Year 8, 10, and 12 Student Leaders, as well as our ECCO Leaders. During the visit, she shared insights into her role as Governor and its significance within the State Government.
Students posed thoughtful questions covering topics such as faith in leadership, the distinction between the Governor’s role and that of The Crown, her patronage of community organisations, and—more light-heartedly—which football team she supports.
We also had the opportunity to showcase the new building’s southern-facing screens, which feature a commissioned artwork by an Indigenous artist. We explained that the artwork represents the College’s connection with Ernabella on the APY Lands—a partnership that is deeply valued by our community.
We are sincerely grateful for the Governor’s visit and know that our student leaders appreciated the opportunity to engage with her in meaningful conversation.

Year 7/8 Catch-Up at Glenthorne National Park
On Saturday 29 March, Year 7/8 students and their families gathered for a fantastic catch-up, organised by Year 7 parents Ruby Perera and Diana Brenkley.
There was a great turnout of 50 people, including both students and parents. We came together at Glenthorne National Park to enjoy a beautiful day with perfect weather, the sun shining, laughter filling the air, and friendships forming.
The kids had an amazing time on the slides, climbing structures, flying fox, and playing ball games while parents connected, exchanged numbers, and built new friendships. Everyone, both students and parents, loved the Zooper Doopers! The atmosphere was filled with joy, and no one wanted to leave.
A huge thank you to Ruby and Diana for creating this opportunity to strengthen the community. We also give thanks and praise to God for the wonderful weather and the great day shared together. The excitement for the next catch-up is already building, and we look forward to many more gatherings in the future.
Thank you to everyone who came and made the effort to be part of this special event, we truly appreciate it!

Year 10 Biblical Studies: Living-out Matthew 25
This term, our Year 10 Biblical Studies program has invited students to dive deep into the heart of God through the lens of Matthew 25, where Jesus calls us to care for "the least of these." Building on The Rite Journey theme - 'life is not about you' - students are encouraged to look beyond themselves and embrace a life of service to those in need around them.
A key highlight this term has been the partnership with Lighthouse City Mission, where students have had a hands-on opportunity to serve those in need. This practical experience helps them live out their faith, becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in a tangible way.
Through reading of scripture, reflection in class, and then a service opportunity with a real-world impact, students are discovering that following Christ comes with a high call, to imitate His love by caring and loving those around us.

Year 11 Psychology Incursion - Animal Behaviour Workshop
Year 11 Psychology students were visited by Mei Li Kok, a representative from Adelaide University, who ran a workshop on Animal Psychology. Students learned effective strategies for training animals, including the use of positive and negative reinforcement.
One activity in particular involved using 'clickers' to reinforce desired outcomes in behaviour. It was interesting to explore a new area of psychology, as well as consider future pathway options in Animal Behaviour.

Year 8 Medieval History Models
The Year 8 students have been studying Medieval History. One of their tasks was to choose something related to medieval times, ask questions, research answers to their questions, and then build a model of what they had chosen.
Students did a fantastic job, with many of their models showing in-depth detail.

Year 11 Food and Hospitality turns Pizzeria!
Today the Year 11 Food & Hospitality class opened their Pizza Cafe, "Pandora's Crust" for staff to visit and enjoy their Gourmet Pizzas.
It was the culmination of their recent Pizza unit, learning about the finer details of cooking both contemporary and appetising pizzas. Students created all aspects of the recipes, from pizza dough, sauces, roasted vegetables, pesto and confits, to perfecting flavour balance and finishing with final touches for added interest.
Thank you to the staff who supported our event, and students who challenged themselves to create beyond their usual experience.
