ELC Wheels Day

It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Blenkinsop, one of our Secondary teachers, along with several other cycling enthusiasts from the Emmaus staff, to the ELC last Thursday.

He shared with the children his upcoming trip to the APY Lands, where he will help launch the Pitjantjatjara Illustrated Children’s Bible. This Bible holds significant cultural and spiritual importance, created as part of the Pitjantjatjara Bible Translation Project – Godaku Tjukurpa Tjunkupai – in collaboration with the Bible Society’s Remote Indigenous Ministry Support. 

Mr Blenkinsop's involvement in this meaningful project is a testament to his dedication to helping others and promoting cultural understanding.

In August 2023, Mr Blenkinsop undertook an incredible journey, riding 1,428 km over eight days, raising $40,000 for the production and distribution of this special Bible. This is a significant step in supporting the Pitjantjatjara community, and we are excited to be part of this journey as it moves forward. The illustrated children’s Bible will not only support the spiritual development of the children in the APY Lands, but it also provides an important cultural connection through storytelling in their own language.

To help raise additional funds for the launch, we invite our ELC students to participate in a special fundraising event on Thursday, 17 April, during the school holidays. Children are encouraged to bring their bikes or scooters (along with a helmet) to ride around the courts in support of this worthy cause. It’s a fun and active way for the children to get involved and make a difference, while learning about the significance of the project.

We are excited to see our students participate in this wonderful event and help raise funds for such a meaningful cause!
