Holy Week at St. Finbar's

Over the last two weeks our school community has come together to reflect on the events of Holy Week, deepening our understanding of Jesus’ journey and the significance of Easter. Thank you to our Year 3 students  for their colouring in of the various events in Holy Week that has been displayed in the corridor near the library. Through story and colouring, they were able to deepen their connection to the Easter story and appreciate the significance of Jesus' journey.

Our Year 2 students led us in a beautiful narration and prayer about the Garden of Gethsemane, reminding us of the importance of prayer and trust in God. Each year level attended our own John Ashe garden to listen to this meaningful reflection.

Our Year 6 students narrated the story of Palm Sunday, bringing to life Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Accompanying them, our Prep students sang two songs, waving their palms and celebrating this special moment in Jesus' journey.

On Monday, the entire school gathered to reflect on the Last Supper. Sitting together on the Mary Clare playground, we shared lunch as a school community, just as Jesus shared a meal with his disciples. A big thank you to our Year 4 students for their thoughtful narration of this sacred event.

Today, our Year 5 students guided us on a pilgrimage through the 14 Stations of the Cross, helping us to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice and love. Their narration allowed us to walk in Jesus’ footsteps, making this experience truly moving and memorable. Thank you to each Year 5 student for their creative input when drawing their Station of the Cross.

We look forward to finishing the term with our Year 1 students sharing a special song celebrating the hope and renewal of Easter Sunday.

A heartfelt thank you to all our students and teachers for their dedication in making Holy Week so meaningful for our school. May this time of reflection and celebration bring peace and joy to all our families this Easter season.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Congratulations to our Year 3 students who have recently celebrated their Sacrament of Reconciliation! This special milestone in their faith journey was a time for reflection, growth, and experiencing God’s love and forgiveness. We are incredibly proud of their commitment and reverence throughout their preparation and on the day. A heartfelt thank you to our families, Year 3 teachers, Fr Ian and Fr Stephen for their support in guiding our students through this important step in their spiritual journey.

Easter

As we approach the Easter season and begin our school holidays, we invite our families to take time to reflect on the joy and hope that Christ’s resurrection brings to our lives. Easter is a time of renewal, love, and gratitude—a reminder of God’s endless mercy and promise of new life. We encourage families to celebrate this sacred time together, whether through prayer, attending Easter Mass, or simply sharing moments of kindness and generosity. May this Easter season fill your hearts with peace and joy, and may the love of the Risen Christ shine brightly in your homes.

We invite all families to share this prayer as a family as Easter gets closer.

Easter Prayer

Loving God,

We give thanks for the gift of Easter and the hope it brings. As we celebrate the joy of Easter, we give thanks for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, who showed us the way of love, hope, and new life. Bless our families with love, peace, and joy, filling our hearts with kindness and gratitude. Help us to remember the sacrifice Jesus made and to live as people of faith, sharing His light with others.

May we be a reflection of Your kindness and share the light of Christ with others. Watch over our school community, our loved ones, and all those in need throughout this Easter season.

We ask this through Christ, our Risen Lord.

Amen.
