Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 1, Week 10

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,

We are nearing the end of term 1 with only two weeks left.  It has been a very busy and successful start to 2025 with many events still to come.

NENW Regional Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to Arabella, Jackson and Theodore who attended the New England Northwest Regional Swimming Carnival last week.  All swimmers swam their absolute best in a tough field of competitors.  We are so very proud of you.

Colour Run Highest Fundraiser

Congratulations to Indy in K/1B who was the highest fundraiser for our Annual Colour Run. Indy raised a whopping $1110.00.  Thank you to all of our fundraisers.  Funds raised for the school were $4236.00.

Behaviour Focus

Each week we focus on a particular behaviour to ensure our students know what is expected each and every day.  Those students who achieve the behaviour focuses receive over and above awards to fill their rewards chart.

Our behaviour focus for Week 10 is Respectful-

We are learning to:

  • SAY NO - "I have the right to feel safe"!

We know we are successful when:

  • We have the right to say NO

  • No means NO

  • We ask permission and receive consent

  • We know when to stay away

  • We make people feel comfortable

School Assembly

We will be holding our School Assembly this Friday, 4th April at 2:15pm. We welcome all to attend.  Our 2/3O class will be presenting an item and we will have some students in Years 3-6 who will be showing their skills in public speaking.

Easter Hat Making & Easter Parade

With Easter approaching, we will be holding our annual Easter Hat Making afternoon next Monday, 7th April from 2:00pm.  We invite all of our parents/carers to come and enjoy the experience and creativity engaging with your child to create an Easter Hat that they will be parading at our Easter Hat Parade on Thursday, 1th April.  The Easter Hat Parade will begin at 2:15pm and we invite all of our parents/carers to come and watch our students parade their creations.

ANZAC March

This year ANZAC Day will fall in the Term Break. Werris Creek Public School will be marching at the Annual ANZAC March and Ceremony in Werris Creek on Friday, 25th April 2025.  We invite all of our students to join us in Marching and to meet our staff at the Old Butcher Shop on the corner of Coronation Avenue and Single Street at 10:45am dressed in full school sports uniform.

Turn Up Awards

To encourage our students to attend school every day we have introduced the "Turn Up" award.  Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a canteen voucher capped at $7.00.  A voucher will be issued each week to each class.  If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries.  If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries.  Our winners for Week 6 are:

K/1B -         Kingston

2/3O -         Parker

4/5/6W -    Piper

Congratulations, you will each receive a canteen voucher to enjoy a free lunch from the Canteen this Friday.

Kind regards
