Learning in J02

Junior School Edhouse is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

Myuna Farm

On Wednesday, the 25th of October J02, along with all of the other Prep students, went on an excursion to Myuna Farm!

We all took turns to visit the different learning areas –

The Farm Show – we watched a live show presenting some of the animals that live on the farm and even got a turn to milk a goat by hand!

The Animal Nursery – we were able to spend time with, hold and pat rabbits, guinea pigs, lambs, goats and piglets, as well as learn about a variety of reptiles that are housed at the farm, including lizards, turtles and snakes. Through this contact and discussion with the farmers, we learnt about how to be respectful towards animals, as well as discuss their life cycles, needs and behaviours.

Train Ride to Wetlands – we learnt about the unique ecosystem of the wetlands and its fauna and flora.  We were also able to observe and learn about grey-headed flying foxes.

Paddock Feed – we fed Myuna Farm’s domestic and native animals by hand. We saw emus, kangaroos, sheep, alpaca, camels and deer.  We observed each animal and how they lived in their environment and what their needs are.

A great time was had by all and it was the perfect start to our Prep Farm Studies unit!
