All Saints Day

On Wednesday, 1st November, we celebrated All Saints Day. On All Saints Day we remember all the people who have become Saints. Below is an extract from our All Saints liturgy . . .

Today, the 1st of November, is All Saints Day. On this day we remember all the people who have become Saints. We are all saints in the making. This means that God has an important mission for every one of us.

Saints are role models for us. We look to them as examples for ways to live like Jesus. There are many saints in heaven with God but there are also saints living among us. These are people who, by the grace of God, try to live out the Gospel everyday.

Following their actions of love and compassion help make our world a better place and bring us closer to God. We need saints living among us who have a commitment to helping the poor and working for justice in our world.

We must be grateful for these people and thank God for putting them close to us so we can follow their example.

Our challenge today is to work out how we can live out Jesus’ message in word and deed and rise up and make a difference in the lives of others.

Prayers Of The Faithful

We pray that we, like the saints, may rise up and make a positive difference in the lives of others because we are committed to living your way.  Loving God, hear us.

We pray that we, like the saints, may rise up and live lives that make a differenceby showing true compassion and understanding of others.  Loving God, hear us.

We pray that we, like the saints, may rise up and live lives that make a differenceby being humble, gentle and kind. Loving God, hear us.

We pray that we, like the saints, may rise up live lives of true Christian service that make a difference in the lives of others. Loving God, hear us.

We pray that we, like the saints, may rise up and be filled with the Spirit ready todedicate our lives to you and to lead by our example. Loving God, hear us.

Final Prayer

Gracious God,May we move forward with new hearts and new minds focused on becoming saints who rise up and seek to do your will.Inspired by the lives of the saints who followed Jesus’ example, may we strive each and every day to make a difference in our world by living the Gospel message in what we do and what we say.

We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord.
