Our Foundation students went on Excursion to the Botanical Gardens, we hosted the Inter-school Public Speaking Competition, Level 5/6 had the Future Stars Regional Hoop Time, we had a Vermont Secondary College Band performance, our First Lego League competed in the Regional Tournament, Level 3/4 had the Australian History Incursion, Level 6 had their Tivoli German Excursion, and Level 5 have gone on Camp!
Public Speaking Competition
We were so proud to this year host the Interschool Public Speaking Competition at Rangeview. The best public speakers from our local schools; Mitcham PS, Antonio Park PS, Mount Pleasant Road PS, Whitehorse PS and Parkmore PS, all came to Rangeview to display their talents for our Toastmaster Judges.
A big congratulations to all of the participants and to our Rangeview students Rishaan, Rayani, Talitha, and Kirsten. Thank you to Marita Horvath for all of her work in organising this event.
Level 5 Camp
Our excited Level 5 students left school on Monday morning to travel to Forest Edge for a 3 day outdoor adventure camp! Our students participated in rock climbing, flying fox, bush walking, river rafting, low ropes, disc golf and hut building. The students showed true grit and team spirit and all reports back to school were of outstanding student engagement and participation.
A huge thank you to the Level 5 team who went on camp, Dave Torr, Kate Wallis, Kelly James, Lisa Janes, Tim Powell, April Warfield, Moira Mugnier, Alex Campbell, Heidi Slattery, Kate McLeod and Liam Sommers.
A huge thank you also to our wonderful parent volunteers; Mark Bennett, Swee Shin Foo, Tatiana Regos and Amanda Dan! You are just spectacular and we hope you have recovered. The school camping program is so important to our students, and your assistance makes it possible.
First Lego League
Our fabulous team led by our C grade Celebrity - Ryan Evans - today scored the highest overall score in their regional First Lego League tournament (305) and second highest in Victoria. Congratulations to Ian, Esther, Louis, Ava, Zeph, Shaun, Jasper, Jeremy, Hitansh and Nina. Their project called 'WeaveAR' bringing crochet to the youth of today.
Congratulations to Mr Evans for winning Best Coach and Mentor!
In related news - a huge congratulations to one of our Grade 4 students, Crosby who competed in another team for the First Lego League and they won their Regional tournament and are off to Tasmania for the finals! Well done Crosby!
Nudel Kart
Last week our wonderful Enrichment teachers began to use our new resource - the Nudel Kart - with class groups in their Enrichment sessions. This amazing contraption promotes STEM learning in a collaborative and creative way. It was simply astounding to see every student engaged with a small group to create an object using the pieces provided. They had almost as much fun as the staff during our training session.
Celebrity News
This week the students of 2L wrote letters to a local celebrity and invited him to our school carols. We were delighted today, to receive a call from his wife! to thank us for our letters and pass on that unfortunately he is recovering from illness and would not make it this year. What a lovely way to thank our students for their efforts. We wish him a speedy recovery.
