Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fruitful week and so much to be grateful for! Congratulations to the best students in the world, the St Kevin’s students for being courageous and stepping into the unknown, persevering when things got tough and giving it their best.  We are all so proud of you and your efforts!

Thank you Sharon McCorie for your work assisting with the choreography. You have done an amazing job allowing our students to shine.

One of our goals in our AAP (Annual Action Plan)  is to  engage students in learning via passion projects.  Congratulations to Suzie Twinings for writing the script for ‘The 3 Doors’ and Renee White for co-writing ‘The 3 Doors’.  It is a real joy to see students creating and using their skills to benefit others in this context.

Referendum Day Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall

A massive thank you to Suzanne Connelly and Laura Mangiavilliano for leading the Democracy Sausage Campaign. These ladies are meticulous and put in so much work. There are such amazing leaders and spectacular organisers! We are a small school in numbers that does not mean that we are small when it comes to generosity of time and donations.

I enjoyed speaking to parents and getting to know more about their vision for the school while serving our customers.  My only wish is that more of our parents get involved in  future events and in doing so, get to feel the joy of service and commitment to school improvement.  We raised $780 and these funds will go towards mending seats in the school playground.

A big thank you goes out to each and every customer who purchased goods - so many were generous with donations.

Thank you to volunteers that helped on the day are:

Anthony Crimi, Laura Mangavilliano, Morgan Decker, Suzanne Connelly, Ronny Vercauteren, Caroline Geerlings, Jenni McKelvie & Fiona Crimi.

The families that contributed towards the day (money to purchase supplies & cake stall contributions) are:

Harman, Zhu, Twining, Diamente, Young, Mahmoud, Santoro, Marziale, Nitas, Menon, Tsiotinas, Harrison, Young, Carbonara, Zammit, Crimi & Lane

MANY THANKS!

Italian for the Term 4 Week 4

In the previous weeks, the students revisited the vocabulary from Term 1 until Term 3, and they are now ready to move on with new vocabulary!

In Week 4 the students will be learning about school activities:

  • giocare fuori (to play outside)
  • giocare dentro (to play inside)
  • fare sport (to do sports)

By retrieving the language learnt previously and adding the new one, they will be able to make sentences such as:

- Ti piace giocare fuori? (Do you like to play outside?)

- No, non mi piace giocare fuori. Mi piace giocare dentro. (No, I don’t like to play outside. I like to play inside)

- Non mi piace fare sport perche’ e’ difficile. (I don’t like to do sports because it’s difficult)

Staff Update

Francesca Pizzo has decided to make the move to Canada so she will be concluding her work at St Kevin’s at the end of the year.

Francesca has been instrumental in the transition of teaching Italian to our students and teachers.

She has worked with MACS coach Linton Roe to implement practices and support all learners.  We are so grateful to have had Francesca at our school.  She is such a quiet yet productive and active member of staff and we wish her the best in her next adventure.  Grazie Francesca!                    The position of Language assistant has been advertised.

Every blessing,

Gabee Leone
