CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Reading we are learning to understand the structure and organisation of  Narrative texts.

VOCABULARY

Narrative text: A narrative text entertains, instructs or informs readers by telling a story.

Orientation: The part of a narrative that describes who the characters are, where the story takes place and when the story is happening.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to look at a narrative text (can be their readers, a library book or a text of their choice) and ask them to identify the Orientation of the narrative.

Your child could use the following questions to help them:

Who are the characters of the story?

Where does the story take place?

When is the story taking place?
