The Year 5 students are currently participating in this program run by Melbourne City Football Club.
4 sessions: Monday 11:30 – 1:30
9th, 23rd, 30th October and 6th November
The Man Up! Creating Respectful Relationships Program, delivered by City in the Community uses football as a vehicle to create respectful relationships between young men and women.
This will incorporate dynamic classroom workshops, fun football activities and play based learning that builds connection to the club and its philosophy of promoting equality across the sport.
Over the four-week block, students will learn about important topics such as being me, bystander action, gender stereotypes and respect and resilience. A formal consent form will go out to parents, regarding survey consent for students’ answers recorded based on the program, for further insight on the program to improve and gain more funding.

The program combines group discussions, activities, and games to address some concerns that students may have about starting high school such as getting lost, making new friends, and finding balance.
The secondary schools that the Year 6 students will be transitioning to, will also be conducting their own transition sessions with groups of students throughout Term 4.

Visit from Olympian – Anabelle Smith
On Friday the 20th of October the 3-6 students had an Australian Olympian athlete visit as a guest speaker. Anabelle Smith is a diving triple Olympian. She is a part of the Be Fit. Be Well program from the Victorian Institute of Sport. During her session, she spoke to the students about her journey and pathway to success. They learnt about dreaming big, healthy eating and resilience. Anabelle brought along some photos, medals, and a signed swimsuit for the students to pass around and become inspired. We were lucky enough to also score some autographs for the students to take home!
