From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Since the last newsletter, we have had the Melbourne Long Weekend come and go, as well as the St Simon’s Fete. It was beautiful to see so many families join the parish and broader Rowville community last Saturday.  The weather during the time of trading of fete was terrific at encouraging many of you to come out and enjoy some yummy food, stalls and rides.

A big thank you to the volunteers that made the fete possible. Without the volunteer base, our fete does not exist, and as the years go on, school families are invited to consider how they might contribute in future years so that St Simon’s may continue to have a Community Fete for many years to come.

Prep 2024 Transition

At this time of the year, the school is well underway with welcoming our new Prep students starting with us in 2024.  At a recent Prep transition session, many families joined members of the St Simon's Parents’ Association for tea and coffee. This was an excellent opportunity for new and current families to come together as the journey of the St Simon’s School community begins for many families joining our school next year.

The Parent Infomation Night for 2024 Prep will be held next Wednesday 22nd November at 7:00pm in the School Library.

School Advisory Council 2024 - Expressions of Interest

As one school year finishes, another begins and so planning for the 2024 School Advisory Council is well underway with expressions of interest open to all members of the St Simon’s Community.

As a member of the school advisory council, you would be part of the discussion with fellow council members and school leadership about enacting the school’s vision and mission, promoting faith formation and development planning and maintaining capital resources disseminating information about the school implementing school policies as required providing support and communication on school and parish matters, giving advice on issues such as enrolments, school improvement plans and enrolment trends.

As an advisory body, the school advisory council develops processes of consultation that are an essential expression of the educational relationship between parents, schools, parish and the wider community.  The school advisory council has important role to play in promoting and embedding the Child Safe Standards for Child Safety.

I invite anyone interested in the work of the School Advisory Council for 2024 to please contact me at principal@ssrowville.catholic.edu.au to discuss further or answer any questions.
