Grade Four

It’s hard to believe we are halfway through Term 4! It has a jam-packed few weeks with lots of events happening and many things to look forward to. With the school dance production fast approaching, the Grade 4s have been practising and perfecting their class dances. We are really impressed with them, and we are sure you will be too when you see it!

Students whose designs were chosen for the native bird garden, to be built on the grounds of Oatlands, will begin the building process over the course of Term 4. They will begin by clearing the old frog pond area, in preparation for the planting of shrubs, trees and plants and lay down other features of their designs. It is an incredibly exciting time ahead for the students involved.

In writing this term the students have been learning about instructional texts. They developed a procedure based on their own personalised fitness circuit. We had the students outside for part of the process trialling and perfecting their instructions using all sorts of sports equipment. In reading, students have continued to develop their skills through reciprocal reading and literature circle groups.

In Week 4, the Grade 4s went on camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort. There were lots of fun activities that students participated in including the giant swing, flying fox, canoeing, camp cooking, low ropes, initiatives course, archery and a talent show. We experienced all seasons weather-wise on camp! It was great to see the students positively embracing it. All the Grade 4 teachers were really impressed with how well all the students behaved.
