Cross Country

Congratulations to all students who took part in Monday’s Cross Country. A total of 41 students from across grades 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Federation University to take part in the Eureka Division Cross Country. Staff and students were greeted with another fantastic day of weather, with the sun shining bright and making for great running conditions. All students competed hard throughout the day and represented both the school and their families with great pride.

Some special mentions include

Jackson Knight, who finished 3rd overall in the 12/13 year old boys

Chloe Skrykpo, who finished 8th in the 11-year-old girls and

Ricki Kalomiris, who finished 6th overall in the 9/10 year-old girls.

All three students will move on to the GWR Cross Country, held in Warrnambool on Tuesday, the 26th of May.

Special thank you to all parents and families who came along to the event to support the students and the school. It is lovely to see such great support for our students on sporting days like this. Good luck to Jackson, Chloe and Ricki. We are sure you will do yourselves and the school proud.

AFL 9’s Football Day

Congratulations to the students who competed in the AFL 9’s competition on Friday, the 1st of May. St Patrick’s sent along a boys A Grade team and Boys/Mixed B grade team to CE Brown Reserve to take part in AFL 9’s matches against other schools from the Eureka division. Parents and Students were treated to beautiful weather conditions with the sun shining all day. Both teams competed hard and showed great skill and teamwork throughout the day, with the Boys A-grade team fighting hard against some very strong teams, winning their last game of the day with a fantastic whole team performance. The Boys/Mixed B Grade won three games for the day and narrowly missed playing off in the grand final. Students should be commended on their great sportsmanship towards other teams and their willingness to substitute for one another allowing everyone the opportunity to play equal amounts of time.

Special thank you to Leon Underwood for coaching the Boys A-grade team.  His experience enabled him to get the best out of the team, making them very competitive and hard to beat. Thank you to Emma Feguson, who also brought along some sliced oranges to provide a much-needed energy boost for the students. Special mention to all the parents who came along to support the students as well. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to come along. Your support is greatly appreciated. Well done, everyone.

Year 5/6 Excursion

The Grade 5/6 students recently visited St Patrick's Cathedral, where we had the opportunity to see Fr Ed and learn more about the history and design of the Cathedral. Before our excursion, we explored how church architecture changed before and after Vatican II.

During our visit, Fr Ed generously guided us through both the Cathedral and the presbytery, sharing fascinating insights about the building’s history, symbolism, and features. Students were especially interested in seeing the foundation stone of St Patrick’s Hall, built in 1900, and discussing the quote about St Peter: “Upon this rock I will build my Church.” This helped students make meaningful connections between faith, history, and architecture.
