Tuesday 12th May was a big day of football, with both our Under 15 boys and girls teams competing against strong regional opposition.
Under 15 Boys – Xavier Tanner Shield
The Under 15 boys AFL team participated in the Xavier Tanner Shield at Lavington, enjoying a perfect autumn day across four matches of two 12-minute halves.
The boys opened strongly against Xavier Green in slippery conditions, showing excellent intensity and clean ball handling to secure a comfortable 36-point victory.
Their second match against Moama Grammar proved more challenging, with the opposition moving the ball well and exposing lapses in defensive pressure, resulting in a 25–0 loss.
The third match saw the boys face a dominant Albury High outfit, who were the standout team of the day. Despite a very committed performance, the boys went down 54–6, but were notably the only team to manage a goal against them.
In their final game against Murray High, the first half lacked a team-first approach, with players chasing individual efforts. Following a halftime reset, the boys responded brilliantly, showcasing fast, cohesive ball movement and strong teamwork to finish with an impressive 47–6 win.
Consistent performers across the day included Caleb Anderson, Tom Davies, Lucas Mordecai, Cooper Scott, Lucas Hutchins and Chase Raynor. They were well supported by Joe Charlton, Jordan Daniel, Zye French, Lucas Gleeson, Banjo Gow, Tyson Johnston, Lachlan Martin, Flynn McGrath, James McIntyre, Franco Moolman, Tom Perry, Jack Spinelli, Ted Vesey, George Whitsed, Hunter Worthington and Tim Young.

Girls Football – Bushranger Cup
The girls football team travelled to Xavier to compete in the Bushranger Cup, delivering an outstanding performance under the guidance of coach Kirrily Boyd.
The team enjoyed a highly successful day, suffering just one loss to a strong Xavier side while recording convincing wins over Corowa and Murray High. The girls were particularly impressive going forward, consistently hitting the scoreboard with multiple goal kickers in each match.
Asha Mardling was a dominant force up forward, proving a constant scoring threat. Through the midfield, Tilly Smith, Imogen Gardiner and captain Yozora Hooper led from the front with exceptional ball-winning ability and relentless tackling pressure, setting the tone for the team’s success.
A special thank you goes to Remi James, Chelsea Blockley and Marli Myers for their valuable assistance and support on the day.
Overall, both teams represented the school with pride, demonstrating strong skill, teamwork and determination across a competitive and successful day of football.
Students recently travelled to Narrandera to compete in the annual BISSA Cross Country Carnival, held at the local racecourse. The event brought together 10 schools, with each school selecting their top six boys and girls from every age group to compete in a highly competitive field.
Competitors raced across distances of 3km, 4km and 6km, testing their endurance and determination on a challenging course. All students represented the school with great resilience, commitment and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Outstanding individual performances came from Max Whitsed (16 Boys) and Lily Wright (17 Girls), who both achieved first place in their respective age groups — an exceptional accomplishment at this level of competition.
Congratulations to all students who competed and proudly represented the school at the carnival.
