Junior School

Mr Simon Fairall - Deputy Principal, Junior School

It has been a vibrant and engaging fortnight across the Junior School. As a community, we continue to focus on two of our core values pillars - inclusion and respect - thinking intentionally about how we interact with one another. We are committed to supporting and celebrating the diversity within our community, ensuring every student feels known, valued, and connected.

We also look forward to celebrating this diversity at our upcoming Multicultural Day on Wednesday 21 May. On this day, Junior School students are invited to wear either their school uniform or cultural dress as we celebrate the richness of our community. A range of activities will be available during GO Time and lunch, providing opportunities for students to participate, engage, and learn from one another.

We were delighted to host our second Kinder Konnect Day as we continue to welcome our 2027 Kindergarten cohort into the life of our school. These sessions are an important step in building familiarity, confidence, and connection for our youngest learners and their families. We now look ahead to School Readiness Interviews commencing on 11 June, and we thank families for their partnership as we begin this important transition journey.

Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed a highly successful Taste of Trinity Day, providing them with a valuable glimpse into their future as they prepare for the transition to Year 7 in 2027. The day was filled with new experiences, challenges, and opportunities to connect with secondary staff and facilities. We are proud of the way our students approached the day with enthusiasm, maturity, and curiosity.

In the classroom, our Year 2 students participated in a rich and engaging Immersion Day: “Playing with the Past.” This hands-on experience allowed students to step back in time and explore how children in past communities experienced school life. Through activities, games, and artefacts, students gained a deeper understanding of how education has changed over time and developed a strong sense of curiosity about history.  A highlight of the day was enjoying a classic morning snack of milk in glass bottles and a biscuit, offering students a small taste of the past. The experience sparked curiosity, encouraged thoughtful discussion, and brought history to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

Our Kindergarten students were treated to a wonderful live performance by Meerkat Productions – “Good Things Come in 3’s.” The show sparked great excitement, laughter, and learning, encouraging creativity and engagement through storytelling and performance. It was a joy to see our youngest learners so captivated and involved.

Thank you to our staff and students for contributing to another meaningful and dynamic period in the Junior School.

Creative Pursuits

Floristry

Students participating in the Creative Pursuits Floristry activity recently enjoyed a wonderful hands-on workshop with Renee from The Real Florist. Sharing her knowledge and passion for floristry, Renee taught the girls a range of valuable tips and techniques for caring for and arranging flowers.

The session began with a fun and interactive colour-changing experiment using white chrysanthemums, with students selecting colours to transform the petals. The girls then created their own beautiful floral arrangements using a selection of native flowers and foliage.

It was a fantastic opportunity for students to express their creativity, develop new skills, and explore the art of floristry in a supportive and engaging environment. Thank you to Renee for inspiring our budding florists and sharing your expertise with our students.

Big Swing Golf

The first Creative Pursuits session for the term saw a group of eager Year 5 and 6 students take on the popular Big Swing challenge at Drummond Albury.

Students had the opportunity to test their skills on a range of courses from around the world. A great time was had by all, and we look forward to the next visit!

Lions Club Australia Junior Public Speaking Competition

The Lions Clubs Australia Junior Public Speaking Competition will take place on June 28, with our school-based competition to be held towards the end of Term 2.

The competition provides students in Years 3–6 with an opportunity to develop confidence, communication skills and public speaking experience in a supportive environment. Students first participate in a school competition, with successful speakers (2 from each year level) progressing through to the Lions Club, regional and district level competitions.

The program encourages students to prepare and present a speech on a set topic while building skills in organisation, expression, audience engagement and speaking with confidence.

The Topics for 2026

Years 3 - 4

If you could go on a holiday anywhere in Australia, where would you go and why?

Tell us about it... e.g. What can you see and what would you do there?

Years 5 - 6

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world (a real person past or present),

who would it be, and why, and what would you serve them for dinner?

Hint: You will need to research this person to find out about their life.

Further information about the program can be found on the Lions Clubs Australia website.

Students interested in participating are encouraged to see Mrs Naldrett to collect a consent form.
