We were privileged to welcome Margery Evans, Chief Executive of Independent Schools NSW, to the College earlier this week. In listening to Ms Evans and her team, it was clear: in regional communities like ours, the value of an independent education extends far beyond the classroom. Recent data highlights the strength, diversity and impact of our sector – particularly across regional areas where nearly half of all independent schools are located.

Independent schools provide genuine choice for families, offering diverse educational approaches and strong alignment with local values. This diversity ensures each child can be known, supported, and challenged in ways that reflect their individual needs and aspirations.
Regional independent schools also play a vital role in sustaining their communities. They act as hubs for local events, generate employment, and support local businesses through significant economic activity. Across NSW, the sector contributes billions to the economy – all while easing demand on government schools.
Equally important is the focus on the whole child. Independent schools consistently invest in wellbeing, pastoral care and inclusive education – including First Nations students and those requiring additional support.
As a regional school, we are proud to be part of a sector that not only delivers strong academic outcomes but also builds connected and resilient communities. Our commitment remains clear: to provide a high-quality, values-driven and faith-based education that equips every student to thrive. I am grateful to our enthusiastic staff, energetic students and engaged parents for their contributions to this outcome.
Together, may we continue to nurture a school community where every child is known, every family belongs, and every future is filled with possibility.
