In Term Two, students in 3C have been exploring living and non-living things and the connections between them through our Inquiry unit, “How are living things dependent on each other?”

We began by learning about the differences between living things, once-living things and non-living things. Students shared their ideas and created tables with real-life examples to show their understanding. We also investigated the life cycles of plants and animals, exploring how living things are born, grow, reproduce, and change over time. In addition, we learnt about food chains and how energy is passed from one living thing to another in an ecosystem.

Through research and class discussions, students explored how living and non-living things are connected within habitats. We investigated what living things need to survive and thrive, such as food, water, air, and shelter. Students also examined how different species depend on each other within their environments. We also learnt about how human actions, such as deforestation, can impact habitats and the environment on Earth.

  • Aariz- I like learning about food chains and how energy moves through them.
  • Atiya- I enjoyed working in groups to explore what Tasmanian Devils eat.
  • Bella- I enjoyed learning about life cycles because we got to learn how animals are born and grow. We also got to research and draw animals.
  • Kanoli- We worked together as a group, and I learnt many new words such as “habitat.”
