Principal's Desk

From Mr Mati Azadzoi

Dear School Community,

I’m excited to share some wonderful updates regarding our school facilities that have taken place over the past few months. Our school has received a vibrant facelift, with the completion of fresh, bright exterior paint across the school, giving our buildings a renewed and welcoming look. Alongside this, we’ve unveiled brand-new signage and updated branding, which reflects our school’s spirit and commitment to providing a modern, engaging environment for our students. Additionally, essential infrastructure works, including the completion of the septic system upgrade, have been finalised, ensuring the continued comfort and safety of everyone at school. A special thank you goes to Synergy Painting in Pakenham for their exceptional work in bringing these improvements to life. We’re thrilled to see our school continue to evolve, creating an even better place for our students to learn and grow.

Staff First Aid Training

I’m pleased to inform you that on Monday, 18th November, our dedicated staff will be participating in a comprehensive first-aid training session. This training is an important part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students. The session will cover essential skills such as CPR, managing injuries, and responding to medical emergencies, equipping our team with the knowledge and confidence to handle a range of situations. We believe that investing in the preparedness of our staff ensures that we continue to provide a safe and supportive environment for your children every day.

Progress Reports

A reminder to all parents and caregivers to please review your child’s progress report, which was recently shared via Compass. These reports provide valuable insights into your child’s progress. We encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns with your child’s teacher, as open communication is key to ensuring the best outcomes for every student. If you haven’t yet had the chance to go through the report, we kindly ask that you do so at your earliest convenience. Together, we can continue to support and guide your child’s learning journey.

Swimming

What a fantastic week we’ve had with our swimming program! It has been wonderful to see so many of our students participating enthusiastically, improving their skills, and enjoying the water. We want to extend a huge thank you to all the staff and parents who helped make this event such a success. From organising swimming gear to ensuring the smooth running of each day, your support has been invaluable. It’s no small task to coordinate such an event, and we truly appreciate the effort and teamwork that made it possible. We are so proud of all our students for their participation and look forward to seeing the progress they’ve made in the pool! A huge thanks to Ms Waldron for leading and coordinating the event.

New Building Signs

We’re excited to share that Officer Primary School has recently unveiled new signage across the campus, creating a fresh and unified identity for our school. The vibrant, modern designs not only improve navigation for students, staff, and visitors, but also reflect our core values of GROWTH. The signage reinforces our commitment to fostering a positive, connected learning environment. The transformation has already brought a renewed sense of pride to our community, and we look forward to seeing how these updates continue to enhance the experience for everyone at Officer Primary School.

A focus on Explicit Teaching in 2025

Looking ahead to 2025, our school is excited to focus on explicit teaching, an evidence-based approach that improves student learning by clearly stating learning goals, breaking down complex skills, and providing ongoing feedback. Research shows that this method helps all students, especially when combined with guided practice and continuous assessment. By embedding explicit teaching across our curriculum, we aim to support every student in building a strong foundation, gaining confidence, and achieving academic success. We are committed to keeping you informed and working together to ensure each child reaches their full potential.

Arborist and High-Risk Trees

Over the past two weekends, professional arborists have conducted a thorough assessment of the trees across our school grounds, pruning and removing any that were identified as high-risk due to damage, disease, or structural concerns. This proactive work was carried out to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and visitors. By addressing potential hazards early, we are helping to maintain a safe and healthy outdoor environment for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to prioritise safety at our school.
