Excursions
Bunnings
Plenty River College recently held a series of community sausage sizzles at Mernda Bunnings, organised on Fridays throughout Term 3 and 4. These events served as both a fundraising effort and a valuable learning opportunity for students to complete various curriculum outcomes. Our students from all classes took on the responsibilities of managing tasks, from setting up and cooking to serving customers, and utilising their numeracy skills all while engaging with the local community.
Through this hands-on activity, they built essential skills in teamwork, communication, leadership and event coordination. We are proud of their dedication and enthusiasm in representing Plenty River College and contributing to a meaningful community cause. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to show support!
The students and the College will now determine where to allocate the funds raised throughout the year and how best to make a meaningful donation.
Whittlesea Market
Over the last 4 weeks, our students had an exciting opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills at the Whittlesea Monday Market, where they set up a stall to sell a range of handmade items. During Term 3, they’ve been hard at work creating candles, body scrubs, tote bags, keyrings, earrings, and much more in preparation for the event.
Throughout each market day, the students applied their selling skills to engage with customers and promote their products. As the days progressed, we saw a noticeable boost in their confidence, and it was wonderful to watch them grow more comfortable in their roles. It wasn't just about sales—this project also fostered a strong sense of teamwork and pride in their creations.
The money raised from their efforts will be donated to various charities, with each one selected by the students as part of their Personal Development Skills (PDS) project. The days were not only a success in terms of sales but also a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication!
RIJI Interviews
PRC students trekked out to Montmorency for the RIJI Mock Interviews. These mock interviews gave students the chance to be quizzed and assessed by industry professionals, gaining experience representing themselves as a future worker and reflecting on their own strengths and qualities. The feedback our students received was extremely impressive and a credit to them all for their hard work.
