We can’t believe that we are half way through the term, it has truly flown by!
Last week we were focusing on our persuasive writing, where students had to convince their audience that there should be more kids in leadership positions and how this would impact society, making the school and the world a better place. During assessment weeks we are excited to be publishing this piece to share with you in our portfolio to showcase the hard work we have been putting into our handwriting writing this semester.
In Reading we have been focusing on the important skill of summarising fiction and non fiction texts. Students learnt to use the acronym SWBST to help them cover the main points of a narrative and to focus on discussing the beginning, middle and end of an informative text. Why not asking them to tell you more about this? We are excited to see this hard work in practise with Assessment Weeks rolling in.
It has been fantastic to see students already beginning to showcase what they have learnt this year in Assessment Weeks. We are sure that this is just the start of the amazing growth and outstanding efforts students will continue to display. Don’t forget the importance of making sure that students have had plenty of sleep and are well fuelled for each day!
In PBL students have been learning all about how things grow. They have loved watching our tadpoles grow and are pleased to announce that we have our very first FROG! Also don’t forget to ensure permission forms are submitted on Compass for our upcoming incursion where we will continue to experience the wonders of wildlife up close.
That’s all for now until next time. Over and out from PLC 2!

Wow, Week 6 already—halfway through the term! Over the past two weeks, the Grade 5s have been putting in an incredible effort, working hard on their assessments and showcasing all they've learned this semester. It’s been amazing to see everyone trying their best, demonstrating resilience, and pushing themselves to achieve great results. The hard work has definitely paid off, and they should all feel very proud of their dedication and progress.
A special congratulations goes out to our Grade 5 students who were selected for School Captain interviews. Standing up in front of their peers and delivering speeches to the Grades 3-6 took a lot of courage. It was wonderful to see them confidently share why they believe they would make great leaders, and every single one of them did an outstanding job. Well done to all!

Professional Learning Community 6 (Grade 6)
Welcome to Term 4, Week 6! It’s hard to believe that in 5 weeks, we will be finished Term 4 and our Primary School Journey will have come to an end. However, we still have so much to look forward to as a cohort, such as…
- PLC6 Celebration at Adventure Park on Monday December 2nd
- Statewide Orientation Day on Tuesday December 10th
- Graduation Ceremony on Thursday December 12th (Details sent out via Students and Compass Friday this week)
These last two weeks, we have been completing our Assessments in class. Students have done exceptionally well during this time, considering the need for focus and resilience on the multiple assessments we do. Students should be proud of sticking to the task at hand and completing their work independently.
It has been excellent to see students continue to read at home and to make changes to their behaviour in class and out in the yard so they can attend our Adventure Park Celebration. It has been pleasing to see other students continue to assist each other to make positive choices and avoid reflections and consequences.
We as teachers have been continually increasing the expectations and removing some of the more “Primary School” structures to build our students towards starting their High School journey. Students have been excited to see how our classrooms look and function, and we look forward to seeing these skills of independent learning and positive behaviour choices continue as we build up throughout the last 5 weeks of Primary School.
