Term 4 Week 6
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now officially half way through the term and well into our Assessment weeks. The student assessment allows our teachers to use this data to form their final judgement of student growth and progress for the year and prepare for the end of year reports. On Monday 25th November it will be a student free day with teachers using the day to write their reports.
Assessment weeks normally go for a two week period and it can be tiring for the students during this time, so a good bed routine is important for the best results.
Girls' program
The last few weeks have seen about 40 girls and their parents/carers attending a variety of afterschool activities. Ms Brooke Jorgensen and Ms Karla Bower-Hegert have provided a thoroughly engaging program that the girls, parents and carers have really enjoyed. Below are some photos from the visit to the Ballarat Tech School.
Student leadership 2025
Many of our students (twenty) in Grade 5 this week have been interviewed for School Captain by this year's school captains and the Principal class team. They have also presented a speech to the students and staff of Grade 3-6 in the stadium and from this presentation, the students and staff voted for four students. It is from a combination of student and staff votes and the interview that we have been able to select four students to be our school captains of 2025.
Congratulations to the following students who will be our school captains for 2025:
Piper H, Senuji W, Khayem S & Jeremy C. The task this year of selecting was increasing hard due to the calibre of students we had apply and speak to the staff and students.
I would like to commend all students who applied. The next stage of our student leader positions will commence filling a range of other positions in the school.
STUDENT CLASS PLACEMENTS 2025
This week our teachers began the process of placing students in classrooms where they feel they will work best. There are a range of processes they consider from academic to social to balance a class. We have received requests from you if you felt strongly that your child would not work productively with another student. This process for parent requests has now finished as teachers and leadership look to finalise classes for next year.
ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH 2024
Next week we have our Energy Breakthrough team heading off to Maryborough to compete against over 100 primary school teams. The twenty eight students (3 teams) are very excited and the weather looks to be kind to us for this year. Mr Zerafa and Mrs Jones have been busy preparing the team all year and have been assisted by Phil Mc Grath as support. We wish our 2024 Energy Breakthrough team all the best and hope they enjoy the experience. A big thank you to our sponsors for the team this year who have allowed our team to get access to the best equipment. Below is the schedule of the event for the next 3 days.
FACILITIES UPDATE
We anticipate the Modular building to be complete in the next two weeks, which will allow time to organise and set up for next year.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
Thank you for supporting the summer school uniform. We have had very few students we have had to follow up with about hats and wearing them. This has made life easier, particularly when the sun has been out more than we have been used to.
We have noticed that an increase in the number of bike shorts and low cut shorts has been worn and staff are following up with students who are wearing them and informing them of the correct uniform.
