Galilee Art Show

Thank you to all those who attended the Art Showcase on Wednesday afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many students excited to show and discuss their artworks with their parents and siblings. We hope you enjoyed this opportunity and agree with me in saying we have lots of creative and talented artists in our midst! Well Done Everyone and many thanks for your support!

Child Safety & Wellbeing Policy

Child Safety & Wellbeing Policy updated for greater emphasis on inclusion and diversity

This year, the school has been working with a parent focus group to work out how we can make Galilee a more inclusive and welcoming place for diverse groups of children and families.

There are already so many successes to talk of, however it was felt we could do more so that those families who have chosen Galilee as their family - and those that wish to - can feel there is a place for them.

The group has used an existing MACS policy, that has a space for schools to define their context, and has worked to write a paragraph that hopefully captures the school’s context and beliefs.

The updated policy is still in draft form. We would love it if you could read over it and if you have any comments about what you think we’ve done well or what could be better, to please email those to the school’s admin email address.

Along with the policy amendment, the group has discussed ideas of how we can take action to create visible signs of a more inclusive environment at Galilee. Please look out for these in future newsletters and around the school.

The school would like to warmly thank all the parents who have been involved so far. If anyone else would like to help the school in this, please reach out to admin@gsm.vic.edu.au.

School Drop off and Pick up

School Drop off / Pick up & Road Crossing

We want to thank you for the families who left flowers and messages after Noel’s passing. Noel was a long-standing member of the Galilee community, always positive and loved helping students get to school safely.

If you use the crossing, please say hello to Brendan who has taken over from Noel. Brendan is diligent and tries to keep traffic flowing.

Our urban context can be useful to help students learn about safe crossing, as well as providing challenges and dangers. If you’re parking opposite the school, please use the correct crossing with a supervisor, to help all children learn safe crossing processes. There are a lot of opportunities for parking around the school on Bank St and Montague St where children don’t have to cross any roads, or only have to cross with crossing supervisors.

If you do want to come into school we encourage you to leave the 5 minute zones free and park a little further away, so that those spaces are free for drop-and-go.
