The Patch Program

Term 4, Week 10

What a wonderful Term 4 we have had in The Patch!

In the Garden, we have been so busy getting all of our summer vegetables planted, and we have so much planted - Tomatoes (over 10 varieties), cucumbers, zucchini, lettuce, beetroot, kale, basil, capsicum, eggplants, pumpkins and more.

We also have lots of different flowers to attract all those fantastic pollinators to the garden.

We are also letting a lots of our winter vegetables go to seed so we can collect them to grow next year. Did you know one carrot that we leave in the ground, we can collects hundreds of seeds from? Amazing!

Students have been learning about transplanting Seedlings, and identifying herbs by smell and taste. We have so many herbs growing in the patch, to add lots of flavour to our cooking. Yum!

In the Kitchen this term, we made Carrot Cupcakes with every year level. Every class did so well, and we managed to use up all the carrots we grew in the garden (and there were so many of them).

THANK YOU!

I’d like so say a massive Thankyou to all the wonderful mums, dads, grandparents and carers that helped out in the kitchen this year. We can’t do it without you!

Also Thankyou to the Lynch family for their generous donation of Tupperware for the kitchen/garden and science program.

And a huge Thankyou to all the BPS students for making me feel appreciated and love working here!
