BE INVOLVED, BE CONNECTED

GRADE ¾ PASSIONS SEMESTER ONE

This semester, our Grade 3 and 4 students have been deeply engaged in exploring the concepts of empathy and kindness. After learning about what these values mean and why they are important, students participated in a range of activities designed to help them recognise and show empathy in everyday situations.

As part of their learning, students investigated innovative products from around the world that were created to support different empathy groups. Inspired by these real-world examples, students were then challenged to design their own product that promotes kindness and empathy while also reflecting one of their personal passions.

This inquiry encouraged students to think creatively, act compassionately, and consider how they can make a positive difference in the lives of others. Students worked through the LAUNCH cycle and last week got the opportunity to ‘launch’ their products to their classmates. Below are some of the incredible ideas and products students came up with.

Jaden and Diego

We created a puppet show for other kids. This puppet show is designed to teach other kids about how to be kind at school.

Milla and Audrey

We made an activity book. We made this with sick people in mind. They can use this book when they are sick and bored and waiting for appointments.

Kelly and Ella

Our passion is creating things. We made a model of a room that has hidden cards with motivation and affirmation messages. It's for people who need a kindness boost.

Amelie S and Indi

My passion is animals. I created a wheelchair for animals that have broken bones and that may have a disability where they can’t walk. I created this so all animals have a chance to walk.

Wilfred

My passion is creating things. I made something called the super goggles. It has five different eye sight pieces, the one on the side zooms in and the ones on the top zoom out. I made these super goggles for support coaches to use.

Seb M and Jack vp

Our passion is creating things. Something for people who don’t like speaking and if they can’t speak. You can type in something and it speaks for them. We made this for people who have trouble speaking or for autistic non verbal people who want to communicate without the need of talking.

Luca

My passions is AFL football. I created a mini version of magnetic goal posts for AFL stadiums to use to see if a ball is a behind if it hits the post or not. This is to help AFL umpires.

Bela

My passion is teaching others spanish. I made flashcards for students bags to teach them how to speak some spanish.

Helena and Missy

Helping, reading and writing is our passion. We created sign language flash cards for the alphabet to help others learn sign language to communicate with people who are hearing impaired.
