In December, we held our biannual conference to support Victorian teachers with their practice of Philosophy in schools, including many presentations on Community of Inquiry and VCE Philosophy.  We were privileged to listen to ABC's David Rutledge speak about social media and social epistemology.  And our own Ben Kilby presenting his research about the impact of P4C.  The two days were packed with great presentations, great catch ups in-between and lots of networking.  We hope that you found it useful, found a buddy to support you, especially those doing VCE who need a moderator.

In January 4 of our members attended the FAPSA Teacher Educator Course in Sydney.  VAPS would like to congratulate Jake Muir, Fiona Wright, Ben Reeves and Timi Schubert for completing the course.  We hope that you continue to be inspirational facilitators.

Our teacher educator Bonnie Zuidland was co-instructor with Vanya Kovach (from New Zealand) supported by Jill Howells, Kate Kennedy White, Catherine Geraghty Slavica and Britta Jensen.  Cathy Legg, another VAPS supporter was also present and gave a wonderful presentation on truth.  The course was attended by our colleagues in SA, ACT,  NSW, Tasmania, Hong Kong, NSW and New Zealand.  We kindly thank Britta and the team at Newington College for hosting.

In December VAPS was well represented at the PESA Conference in Perth.  Bonnie Zuidland, Jake Muir, and Joel Hogarth (VAPS) joined Britta Jensen (PiNS) on a panel exploring problems of practice in P4C.  Both Bonnie and Jake also presented at the conference on other aspects of Philosophy w/for Children.  The VAPS team got a lot out of the experience, learning about different aspects of the Philosophy of Education.  In 2026 PESA will be held in Melbourne...so watch this space as we plan to have a presence at the conference.
