Reflection
Reflection: Prayer to the Holy Trinity
Glory be to the Father,
Who by His almighty power and love created me,
making me in the image and likeness of God.
Glory be to the Son,
Who by His Precious Blood delivered me from hell,
and opened for me the gates of heaven.
Glory be to the Holy Spirit,
Who has sanctified me in the sacrament of Baptism,
and continues to sanctify me
by the graces I receive daily from His bounty.
Glory be to the Three adorable Persons of the Holy Trinity,
now and forever.
Amen.

As we honour the Feast of the Holy Trinity, we are reminded of the profound mystery and beauty of our faith: God comes to us in tenderness and compassion, offering forgiveness and renewing the covenant of love with His people.
This divine presence became incarnate in Jesus Christ, who walked among us, and continues to dwell within us through the Holy Spirit - our constant guide, comforter, and source of strength.
In celebrating the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - we marvel at the boundless and unconditional love of God.
Let us lift our hearts in gratitude and joy, and continue to proclaim together:
“Glory and praise forever!”

The Power of Good Study Habits: Why They Matter More Than You Think
As we reach the halfway point of the school year, with most assessments completed, it’s the perfect time to reflect on our routines. Over the past six months, we’ve all developed habits - some that help us thrive, and others that may be holding us back. The good news? It’s never too late to reset and refocus. Establishing strong study habits now can set the tone for a successful second half of the year. Year 10 students were reminded of this opportunity at the 2026 HSC Subject Selection Evening.
Why Are Good Study Habits Important?
Boosts Academic Performance
Consistent study routines help reinforce learning, improve memory retention, and reduce last-minute cramming. This leads to better results and deeper understanding.
Reduces Stress and Anxiety
When you plan your study time and stick to it, you avoid the panic that comes with looming deadlines and unpreparedness. A structured approach brings peace of mind.
Builds Discipline and Time Management
Good habits teach you to prioritize tasks, set goals, and manage your time effectively - skills that are valuable far beyond the classroom.
Encourages Lifelong Learning
Once you master how to learn efficiently, you can apply that skill to any area of life. It fosters curiosity and a growth mindset.
Improves Confidence
Being well-prepared boosts your confidence in exams, presentations, and discussions. You’ll feel more in control and capable.
How Long Does It Take to Build Good Study Habits?
Research suggests that it takes 21 to 66 days to form a new habit, depending on the complexity and consistency. That means if you start today, you could be well on your way to stronger study habits by the start of next term. The key is consistency over perfection - small, steady steps lead to lasting change.
Tips to Build Strong Study Habits
Set a Schedule: Designate specific times for studying each day and stick to them.
Create a Dedicated Study Space: A quiet, organized environment helps you focus.
Use Active Learning Techniques: Summarize, teach others, or use flashcards to reinforce material.
Take Breaks: Use techniques like the Pomodoro method to stay fresh and avoid burnout.
Review Regularly: Don’t just cram - space out your review sessions for better retention.
Mid-Year Reset: Reflect and Refocus
Take a moment to identify which habits have helped you and which ones haven’t. Are you procrastinating more than you’d like? Struggling to stay organised? Now’s the time to make small adjustments that can lead to big improvements.
Good study habits don’t form overnight, but with patience and persistence, they become second nature. As we move into the second half of the year, let’s commit to learning smarter, not harder. Your future self will thank you.
Year 11 2026 Subject Selection: A Key Milestone Toward the HSC
This time of year marks a significant milestone for our Year 10 students as they begin to make important decisions about their course of study for the HSC years. These choices will shape not only their academic journey but also their future pathways beyond school.
Last night, we were pleased to welcome students and their families to our Subject Selection Information Evening. It was a valuable opportunity for students and parents to meet with our Leaders of Learning, explore the wide range of courses available, and ask questions to help guide their decisions.
During the evening, I reminded students and parents of a key message:
Choose subjects that you are genuinely interested in and that you will enjoy.
Research consistently shows that interest and enjoyment are two of the most powerful predictors of success in senior studies. When students are engaged and passionate about what they’re learning, they are more likely to stay motivated, persevere through challenges, and achieve their personal best.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all our Leaders of Learning for the valuable support and guidance they provided to students and parents during the Subject Selection Information Evening. Your expertise and willingness to engage in meaningful conversations made a significant impact.
A special thank you goes to Mr Stephen Davidson (Assistant Principal – Teaching and Learning) and Mr Dennis Lee (Curriculum Coordinator) for their outstanding organisation and leadership in coordinating this important event. Your efforts ensured the evening was informative, well-structured, and highly beneficial for all who attended.
If parents or students have any further questions or need guidance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Careers Advisor, Ms Lee, or any of our Leaders of Learning.
Thank You for an Incredible Athletics Carnival!
I would like to extend my heartfelt thank you to all staff and students for your enthusiastic and active participation at this week's Athletics Carnivals.
The energy, effort, and sportsmanship displayed throughout the day were truly inspiring. It was incredible to see every student giving their best, cheering on their peers, and embracing the spirit of healthy competition. The House Spirit was alive and thriving, with vibrant colours and unwavering support for each other.
A special thank you to our staff for their dedication and organisation, ensuring the day ran smoothly and safely. Your support made it possible for everyone to enjoy a fun and memorable event.
The way our school community came together - encouraging one another, celebrating achievements, and showing resilience - was a powerful reminder of what makes St Pius X College so special.
Let’s carry this momentum and positivity into the rest of the year!

Pride in Performance: AFL Carnival Highlights Character Over Scoreboard
On Wednesday, a group of our students proudly represented the College at the AFL Carnival, showcasing not only their athletic ability but also the outstanding character and sportsmanship we strive to instil in all our players.
While the final results may not have gone in our favour, what stood out far more than the scoreboard was the spirit, resilience, and respect our students displayed throughout the day. From the first bounce to the final siren, our young men played with heart, supported one another, and upheld the values of teamwork, perseverance, and integrity.
Their conduct on and off the field was a powerful reflection of the College’s ethos. They were gracious in both victory and defeat, respectful to officials and opponents, and unwavering in their commitment to giving their best.
I was exceptionally proud of all our players - not just for their efforts in the game, but for being such outstanding ambassadors for our College. They wore our colours with pride and represented our community with dignity and class.
To our students coaches and Mr Horan, thank you for your leadership and encouragement. And to our students - well done on a performance that truly mattered.
Good Luck to All Our Teams This Weekend!
As we head into another exciting weekend of sport and competition, I want to take a moment to wish the very best of luck to all our teams competing in their respective events.
Whether you're on the field or court, we are proud of the dedication, teamwork, and school spirit you continue to show each week. Your commitment to training, your support for one another, and your determination to represent our school with pride do not go unnoticed.
To our coaches and staff - thank you for your ongoing guidance and encouragement. And to our families and supporters - your presence on the sidelines makes all the difference.
Let’s bring that energy, sportsmanship, and passion into every game and event this weekend.
Go the Blue and Gold!
