Term 2 Highlights

There have been a lot of highlights throughout the term and we would like to name a few of them.

One of the main events that took place was our Kindness Launch Day, which allowed us to think about being kind to everyone and appreciate the kindness shown by the students and school community, as well as wear yellow to symbolise kindness. Kindness is now one of our whole school expectations within the whole school community, so let's all keep up the great work we have been doing in this area.

Then we had some sporty events such as the District and Regional cross country for the students who ran long distances.  We had the Year 6’s inter-school sports Gala Day, where students competed in a range of different sports.

This term we have had a lot of excursions and incursions across all year levels and we are sure they all enjoyed the places they visited.   We had the Mother's Day Breakfast with pastries, treats and we had the Mother’s Day Stall where we bought gifts for our mums and we acknowledged how much our mums love us and care for us.

We had music events like excursions with Mrs B, to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and welcoming new kids in the choir. We had whole school masses where we celebrated different celebrations like Refugee Week and more. We also had our talent show where students showed off their talents like singing, dancing and more. We had our shared house lunches where we had fun with our houses by doing activities and having fun.

These are just to name a few, we are looking forward to Term 3 with more great events happening, particularly for our Preps who will celebrate their 100 Days of school.

Some of the kindness images created from classes, there were lots of great videos also that were shared across classes, so thanks to everyone

Pyjama Day

National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your favourite pair of PJs to help raise awareness for children in foster care. The Pyjama Foundation raises money to assist children in foster care, particularly in the area of education. If you would like to know more about the foundation, here is a YouTube clip:

On this day, students and teachers are encouraged to wear their favourite pyjamas or an oodie to school and bring a gold coin donation.  Please note that due to safety, slippers are not to be worn; students can wear their runners.

Alternatively, if you would like to donate online as a part of our school’s team page.

Pyjama Day will be happening in week 2 on the 1st of August, Term 3.

Library Games

Throughout the year, we have had a library games lunchtime club at both breaks on a Friday, this is run by Mrs Ryan with the help of Miss Ramsay, Mrs Romeo and Mrs Kettle.

During library games, children will come to the library and can choose from a variety of games set out to enjoy the break inside and to be social with friends and classmates.

There are things such as building blocks, chess, board games, tic-tac-toe and more.

We wanted to share some photos of all the fun that students have had during this time.

Teacher Interview

Miss Haila from 4D

What do you like about our school?

I love our school community, I love how we are like a big family, I love how everyone is hospitable and willing to help, no matter how big or small the task may be.

What is one thing you would do to improve our school?

Having more leadership roles for all Year 6 students.

What is your favourite hobby?

I like to try new cafes with my friends, try their different iced Matcha lattes, and go for walks with friends and family and spend time with family.

Why did you want to become a teacher? I wanted to become a teacher because when I was young, my teachers had such a great impact on me. They inspired my own journey in becoming a teacher, and I want to instil that same impact in my own students.

How long have you been teaching for? This is my first year as a teacher,r and I have gained so much knowledge and insight into the profession. This is a year I will treasure forever throughout my teaching career!
