Wellbeing day and NAIDOC week

Today our students got to wear their pyjamas to school as a reward for earning over 195 pears! We also celebrated NAIDOC week together with many activities, including our whole school Goanna Art creation.

Check out some snaps from the day below!

Dear Parents and Carers,

When school is in full swing, it’s easy for conversations to feel rushed or repetitive - especially when we ask (again!) “How was school today?”

Winter break offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down and reconnect with our children.  To help spark engaging, fun, and meaningful conversations, I’ve compiled a list of thought-provoking (and silly) questions that are kid-tested and parent-approved.

Perfect for family dinners, long car drives, or waiting in a queue, these openings are a wonderful way to explore your child’s thoughts and feelings.  And don’t forget to answer them yourself!  You might be surprised by what you learn about each other.

  • If you could shrink any animal down to the size of a mouse and keep it for a pet, what would you pick?  Why?
  • What do you daydream about?
  • Name three traits you inherited from your mother and from your father.
  • If Ben & Jerry asked you to invent a new ice cream flavour, what would it be?
  • What is a smell - good or bad - you will never forget?
  • Is honesty always the best policy?
  • What can you do today that you couldn’t do a year ago?
  • Would you like to be famous?  If so, for what?
  • What grosses you out?
  • What fictional character do you most admire?  Why?
  • Name three things you like about everyone in your family.
  • Who is the kindest person you know?  Why?
  • What is the weirdest topping you could put on a pizza and still eat it?
  • If you could solve any problem, what would it be?
  • What is your earliest memory?
  • What is the greatest invention of all time?
  • What do you like best about yourself?

Enjoy the holiday break, and I hope these questions foster moments of laughter, insight, and connection for your family!

Warmly,

Kate
