Year 10 Deakin Immersion
On Wednesday last week our year 10 students headed to Deakin Uni in Warrnambool, along with students from Terang College, Heywood, Hawkesdale and Derrinallum.
Students got to experience a day in the life of a Uni student where they attended a small presentation in the large lecture theatre and then broke out into workshops in study areas of interest (including Health, Sports Management, Animal Conservation, Engineering & Construction and Art & Exhibitions).
It was an interactive day and some of the activities students completed were; designing a new football team for the AFL, building a bridge, learning how to take vitals, laying out an art exhibition, building a penguin home, designing a wind turbine, making a mind map and more!
Students had to find their way around various different rooms on campus and finished with a myth buster session on attending Uni. A great day all round – even for those not interested in a University pathway. Big thanks to Mr Boyden for driving the bus!
